SWU Usage
 
I will be flying from LAX - HKG and I will be using an SWU tmw when i fly. I am wondering how they allow people to use the system wide upgrades? Do they go by status? I am only a premier this year. I hope I get upgraded please let me know what goes on.

Call United ASAP to confirm the upgrade now. SWU's allow you to confirm at the time of ticketing. (Make sure you have a valid fare for upgrade).

If you get put on the waitlist and it does not clear by the time you check in, status kicks in.

You will need an H fare or better. To find your fare go to my itineraries at UAL and it will be the first letter following FAre Basis Code.
