UA 942 LAX-ORD a 757 or 747?

I'm looking at booking UA 942 LAX-ORD and I thought it was a wide-body, the seating shows a lot of First and Biz lie-flat seats, but it also shows as a 757. That can't be right, can it?

Perhaps a PS plane that somehow got into that route? I couldn't imagine that would happen and be bookable at that however. The other time I heard this happening was a last minute swap I think.

Nah, this is for a month from now. Or are they running PS to Chicago now?

For what dates? Giving a single flight # and asking a question about is pretty much useless without a date.

UA's seatmaps are also known to be extremely buggy right now, thanks to their latest "enhancement" to their site:

Back when I used to fly this route regularly they used the same plane types every single day, unless there was a mechanical issue. Is that not the case anymore?

I just called UA and they said it is indeed a PS style 757. I'll give it a try and see.

Very interesting. I wonder why they scheduled a PS plane?

It's the domestic leg of an international "direct" flight, and this has been known to throw off the "expert programmers" of ual.com now and then. Have you checked ualcargo.com for the date in question? The cargo site has been known to be more accurate than the passenger site for equipment validation purposes.

Well I checked the cargo site and it says 757 too. But UA is selling 3 classes both on the web and by telephone. So it must be a PS config, right? It can't just be a .bomb error if telephone reservations has the same info.

UA will show C and NC on a flight that is the domestic leg of an international direct flight to facilitate the booking of passengers who wish to fly both legs.

The ualcargo code for a p.s. 757 is 57P; is that what's showing for your flight?

Why is the date such a secret? I would like to check out for myself.

Never mind..Just checked the seat maps on ExpertFlyer for UA942 from 8/15 to 9/3. It is a 2 class 757 every day except 8/28, when it is an A320. No 3 class planes scheduled.

Every day I have checked in August is the same. Check it out for yourself.

There are 24 seats in Biz, and 24 more in F. And they are different as different seats are blocked in each cabin.

As another poster explained..that's just because the flight carries an international flight number. It's a 2 class 757. UA doesn't even have any planes in its fleet that have 24 F seats and 24 Biz seats.

No there are 24. Pretend the business class seat map doesnt exist..there is no business class on this plane. It's first and economy.
