2 747's at SEA today!
SEA has 2 747's that are parked in the north cargo area. One landed at about 9:45am this morning from SFO. Any one know what they are doing in SEA?

I wanted to ask the same thing, knowing there would already be a thread when I got back to my computer.
I arrived on UA223 at 8:02 this morning and saw the one on the cargo ramp. I saw #2 on approach while I was heading south on I-5.

United #9946
sfo - sea (depart 801am -arrive 928am)
United.com doesn't show the flight operating today.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL9946
United #9947 is expected to be b747
sea-sfo (expected depart 1043am - arrive 1223pm, though not departed yet.)
Charter???
UnitedExpress 3-Classs???
maintenance???
I can't imagine repositioning... SEA -NRT is a 777.
training...
seeing if the b747 can park at the N-gates or (possible, A-gates?)... maybe UAL is thinking of swapping the 777 for the 747 to NRT?
One can only speculate
FlightAware is only showing one b747 arriving today.

One is UA895 (ORD-HKG) of June 12 which diverted to Seattle with a mechanical issue. The other is the rescue airplane sent from SFO to take the 895 passengers on to HKG. After arriving at SEA the rescue airplane was not needed and is heading back to SFO as UA9947.

As of yesterday morning we still had one of them still here on the ramp.
Must be some major issue to keep it on the ground for a week.
