*A trying again

Looks like *A is trying again. They extended the offer for this survey. I think you still have to be invited. Did anyone else get invited?

I just tried again, got the same red reply...

"Frequent flyer programme and Account number provided do not match. Please try again."

Same for me...I would really love to do this survey as I have an "H" trip to Taipei next month and would love the bonus...in addition to 5,000 bonus and the double EQM's.

Ditto for me -- and I also have an H trip coming up (to London).

I sent in an inquiry and got the following reply:

"Thank you for writing to us at Star Alliance with your concern.

We are sorry to know of the problems you had in completing for the Star Alliance Gold & Base survey. This is a limited-access website for members of Star Alliance airline loyalty programmes who have received an e-mail invitation to participate. If you received the invitation from your loyalty programme, you are certainly eligible to participate. The survey website will remain open until October 31, 2003 for customers who could not complete the survey.

If you received a message saying that the account number you have entered does not match, chances are our server did not recognise your input. This can be triggered by an actual mismatch (a mistyped number) or a wrong format. You should also try changing the way you are prefixing any letters.

Lufthansa Miles & More members should enter their customer numbers rather than the 15-digit card numbers.

It has come to our notice that some EuroBonus members have been unable to enter their numbers in the 3-letter, 9-digit problem. The workaround for this problem is to eliminate the third letter and enter your number as EBxxxxxxxxx. To illustrate if your number is 'EBB123456789', you should enter 'EB123456789'.

VARIG Smiles members should enter their numbers as RGxxxxxxxxx. If you are a bmi diamond club member whose membership number was changed recently, you should consider entering your earlier number.

United Mileage Plus members should enter their 11-digit membership numbers though not those for any affiliated cards.

If you are confident you have been entering the correct number available with you, we request you to contact your frequent flyer programme's office to confirm if there has been a recent change in the number or the format in use. To contact the airline whose frequent flyer programme you are a member of, return to www.staralliance.com and follow the links from the airline's logo.

We hope you will return to http://www.staralliance.com/star/survey.html. Thank you for participating."

I know that my input is correct. I was not targetted (d**n) and so perhaps this is the computer's way of rejecting us untargetted folks. Seems odd, though.

Most likely they want folks who fly multiple Star partners. Since all my travel this year has been domestic - and on just UA - I can understand why my opinions would not really be relevant and why I was neither invited or able to "ghost" in.

I was invited and am glad that my weekend trip to Auckland on a $550 R/T fare (W fare) will get me the double international bonus. I'm a 1P and SAS EuroBonus silver. I filled out the previous survey as EBS and this one as 1P.
