Paul "Smalls" Kitsos Passes Away on UA 863 JFK-SFO (June 7, 2010)
Just received an e-mail from a friend on UA 863 JFK-SFO that they had to return to the airport a few mins into the flight due to a medical emergency. Apparently the descent back into JFK was pretty steep. Any word on what happened?

Yup, 21 minute flight. That was some quick decision-making. ^

Good thing it was a 757 and a relatively short route so that they could land that quickly without a fuel dump.

Update
Apparently a passenger died during take-off. There was a doctor aboard who tried to resuscitate the passenger, but his efforts were not successful. The passenger was in the first or second row of Y. UA deboarded the passengers in those two rows and in C when the plane returned to the terminal so that they could remove the body. Truly a sad situation.

So far a google and a news.google only picks up this thread, if it was going to make the news tonight it would probably be on the google news site already.

I was on that flight in C and all the Sydney bound passengers were delayed a day. A few people got off the flight. The pilot used runway 13L/31R to taxi back to the terminal after landing.
