Outbound Switch
 

Im booked on a 2 class outbound ORD-LAX with an F upgrade and for the same ticket price I wanted to switch to a 3 class and change the F upgrade to a C upgrade. Will UA change my outbound itinerary? I really have no idea and I wanted to ask the community what they though. - THX

btw there are plenty of seats currently available on both a/c and does 2p help any?

A little more info would help:

1) What is your fare basis?
2) Are you willing to be a $100 change fee?
3) While there are plenty of seats on both flights, is there upgrade inventory on the next flight?

United will not change the outbound leg without re-faring the entire trip in addition to any change fee ($100). So, if you are on any type of discount ticket, you will most likely owe them a bunch of money. You can stand-by for a different flight on the same day, which I have done to catch an earlier flight, with no charge.

re-faring the entire trip: okay, it was originally $350, I found it today for $283, they refunded me the difference, so assuming my old ticket price is $283, the new and old ticket would come up the exact same price. Therefore no difference in the cost of the tickt.

Upgrade: The 763 leaves at 9am and the a320 leaves at 1pm. I could go early and standby to upgrade. BTW I should mention that this is ON thanksgiving. Me thinks I should take the F A320 and not try and gamble C 763... anyway cant pull up the inventory on UA, but seatmap tells me there are atleast 9 and UA told me there are 12 in C - THX

Seatmap showing 9 could simply mean that 9 seats are not yet allocated, though people have reservations.
