Drink selection cut in April Hemispheres?

The drink guide at the back of the April Hemispheres magazine no longer lists margaritas or sparkling wine (both were "United Economy", "premium" "domestic only" previously).

It also no longer lists Glenlivet or Makers Mark.

Anyone know whether these are gone for good?

Separately, there has been some ongoing discussion about the availability of margaritas in F (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...y-not-f-3.html). The last transcon I took was in F late last month, and they had not loaded margaritas (or so they told me).

On tonight's UA898 IAD-BOS in F, I heard the purser announce that sparkling wine and margaritas were available for purchase. I asked the flight attendant whether they had actually loaded margaritas and could I have one, and she said, "yes, I think we have them now", then conferred with the purser, and came back and said "they're for coach only."

So ... are these secret menu items? Do I have to start carrying my drink chits when I fly in F?

I'm sorry to confirm that they are planning on discontinuing the following:

Makers Mark
Glenlivet
Jose Cuervo Margaritas
Rotari Sparking Wine
Leinenkugel Beers

We will sell them until the stock is depleted. So you might see them still on the flights for this month.

Also, they plan on discontinuing the potato chips, Walkers Cookies, and Ghiradelli's Chocolate Bars to make way for new launch items in June.

Finally, in April we are expected to get Red Bull as a sellable item with the Choice Menu.

That's all for tonight folks.

Fly Safe,

Unitedfa

P.S. I don't think they ever intended the Margaritas to be used in First, that is why they were never boarded up there. They were meant to be a sellable product in Y, but there was no direction given if they could be comped to F.

lol too many F/C pax drank the entire plane's worth of glenlivets by themselves.
No one ever buys them in Economy.

Weird that the potato chips are gone, considering that they sell well.
Maybe there is another type of potato chips coming or a healthier version!

Darn, I was really excited when the Sunset Wheat was introduced. Sorry to see that go.

Well since they got rid of the nice champagne on the international flights, I am not as interested in drinking on board. NOW they are taking away the NICE chocolates

HAHA! Dang, most onboard chits I ever used was 2 on a transcon.

Also, was on a LAX-IAD transcon that had an hour delay. All drinks were on the house. Took to making sure everything in that alcohol drawer was consumed. (Was in Y too )

Makes sense. I never minded spending drink chits on them in Y.
