According to the FAA website, SFO has low ceilings today and flights bound for SFO are being held at their departure point an average of 1 hour and 32 minutes.

This has happened to me countless times when taking an early flight SEA-SFO.

We were told by the captain that we had MX problem so we sat on tarmac until 8:30.
The VX flight departed at 8:00 was on time.
If the reason was due to weather, the VX flight would be late too.
I missed my connecting flight and SFO agent insisted that it was due to ATC.
But ..... we were told that it was MX by captain.
I asked the 1K agent should I record every time that they announce a delay reason.
She said "yes"....
I just want to make sure that I heard the same MX reason as others on this flight.

Not withstanding the rest of your account, this isn't necessarily true. Flow control means that some planes get out and some don't.
