Can someone help me clarify the baggage allowance for 1Ps?
Can someone help me clarify the baggage allowance for 1Ps? I am going to be flying from domestically and would like to check-in 3 bags (never been an issue before because I typically never even check-in bags or have never needed to go over 2 bags for each person in my party). My perusal of the United MP website makes me think that I am, as a 1P, permitted (fee-free) 3 bags and each can be up to 70 lbs. Is that correct? The reason I ask is I have seen slightly different info elsewhere. For example, FT United's Mileage Plus Forum FAQ, Wiki, and Glossary page states:
"Additional baggage allowance (three checked bags or 20kg additional weight) on any Star Alliance flight." Is the 3 bags allowance dependent on them all being under 50lbs (for example)? Or is is a straight 3 bags each up to 70lbs is permitted? Just want to make sure my effort to lug 3 bags to/from the airport won't go wasted. Many thanks. |
Premier Executives are allowed 3 bags each not to exceed 70 lbs per bag as per:http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,52649,00.html

Make sure you print out a copy of the page http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,52649,00.html
that lists that you have an allowance of 3x70lbs. I got some grief about this last week; the check-in agent wanted to charge me because my bag weighed 60lbs, and was quite adamant that 1Ks were not exempt for excess baggage fees (which is true, except that excess baggage is only for 70lbs and over!), until I showed her this printout, and then she went back for a few minutes "to check something", before allowing me to check in the suitcase. |
