Status KL?
 
Just logged in to UAL to check some upcoming itineraries, and one of my waitlisted upgrades shows this:

United Airlines 0816
Status: KL

Call 800-241-6522. When I called they routed me to the international travel desk, which of course was closed http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I searched FT for this and found nothing. Does it just mean "KaLl us now!"? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Actually, it means "waitlist KLearing." It comes between PA/PB and HK. As a gate agent, my ticketing skills are pretty dormant, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing for you to do. Either the computer just takes some time to switch your status, or some res agent takes care of things.

I'm 100% sure of the meaning of KL, and that you'll get your upgrade, but I'm only about 10% how this KL creature works.

"KL" gernerally refers to the clearance of an upgrade. There is a small window of time during which you must call in and confirm the upgrade. If you don't call and confirm the upgrade goes to someone else.

Not true. There have been many times when overseas My Itineraries shows the KL but I am not anywhere I can easily call. I have always gotten the upgrade but may not get the seat I want. It is better to call though and confirm it.

This is just my experience, your mileage may vary.

Thanks all for the info.

I called this morning and the upgrade went right through.

It proves it's good to keep an eye on your online itinerary because I wasn't notified by any other means. They probably would have phoned me eventually, but it's nice to have it taken care of.
