AA Exec Plat vs. Premier Exec
I have been a Premier since 2000 but recently learned about the great offer from AA for anyone who files 10K miles with them in 90 days...an Exec Platinum membership valid thru Feb. 2005.
I just do not see the value anymore in being a Premier/Premier Exec. The 1st class upgrades are useless unless you are a 1K, and the food in 1st Class is god awful. I also have an AA Citibank card with American. I tried changing my Bank One card to a Mileage Plus Visa 3 years ago and they wanted me to reapply, although I had a perfect credit record with them (pay bills in full monthly) and had the card since 1988. What does everyone else think of AA Exec Plat vs Premier Exec? IMHO |
I don't think you mean Exec Plat.

Sorry, I meant Platinum.
Thanks |
I wouldn't switch to AA for the food. Although I had some very nice salmon in F today on AA ORD-SJC (and an ice cream sundae), on two other recent occasions I've had meals I have not cared for (some type of tortellini in gravy that I will never order again, and canneloni that was more of a soup than pasta dish).
UA wins when it comes to point to point mileage, as AA charges per segment. On the other hand, AA has more F seats on domestic (the 737-800 I was on today had 20 seats in F, and I had an empty one next to me). There's pros and cons for either carrier. It might come down to looking at whose route structure works best for you. |
