CO Seat Disaster

Hi all -
I booked a UA codeshare operated by CO DTW-IAH-SJC for later this month in T on .bomb. Oops - only seat available on DTW-IAH is a middle seat in the back of the plane.

Do I have any outs for not being stuck there? I called the 1P line and CO, but neither seems to be able to do anything. I had hoped that *G could get me the good seats, but at this point, I just want not-a-middle.

Any advice greatly appreciated - thanks!

When they start clearing upgrades closer to departure, seats towards the front will open up.

All seats are opened up at check in.
Monitor at 5 day and 3 day window as mentioned above

Disaster??

At the 24 hour window, CO opens all seats for selection including exit row seats. At the 24 hour mark, check in online and grab the seat you want. They clear elite upgrade at 24 hour, then again at 3 hour prior to departure, then again at 1 hour. So, check co.com at 24 hours, 3 hour, then 1 hour prior to departure to see if any elites have been moved up to F. Then, take their seats. Good luck.

CO coach seats have very little padding and are painful virtually anywhere you sit.

+2. I've sat in the middle many times before, and also on longer transcon and transoceanic flights. Yet I came out from them with my health and ego in tact. This entitlement attitude that equates a middle seat with "disaster" is beyond comprehension.

At 6'4" I understand it. A middle seat means I don't fly.

I just chalked it up to poetic license. ;)

Interesting... seatguru is showing same pitch on window, middle and aisle seats.....:p

BTW, I just checked and it's a 3-hour flight....far from 'disastrous'....

With a leg in the aisle, the leg room increases dramatically.
