RCC and flying to Canada

Hello All,

I am trying to figure out if it was just one lounge (ORD near the UX gates in the older terminal they just fixed up, gate e2**?).

When I went to go in the lounge I was politely informed that Canada is no longer international and I was not eligible to go in the RCC. I was on a UA codeshare, oper by AC, coach ticket to YYZ. This was 2 weeks ago and they said that they had gotten a memo the week before.

Has anyone else had a similar occurence?

Has anyone told Jean Chretien yet? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

You've just witnesses the 'International Flip Flop'.

Don't beleive anything they say about the email...

It seems to pop up, back and forth. Really, it depends on who you ask. Another example of no one really knowing or caring what's going on.

Don't worry, it'll be different again in another month or two. Sad but true.

It seems that we're considered international when you want to use the kiosks which are domestic only, and we're considered transborder when it comes to getting drink coupons at the RCC for international flights!

Thanks for the info. I never realized you get drink coupons for Intl flights (i'd read all the posts here but it never really clicked). I was perfectly happy with just getting somewhere to sit out of the way with a phone line and electrical. I was so used to cheap domestic access to the RCC and having really nice lounges for DL and AC.

I asked at the YYZ MLL and they were mystified and said that I was welcome at their lounge. Good service from AC???!!?? (horrors of horrors!)

Anyways, I cut back on the caffeine and alcohol during my travel days and I acutally arrive much better than when I used to not refrain. But just wait...when I start having a comfortable seat on my intl flights I'll be back to the drink.

Cheers, Chin Chin, Kanpei, Bottoms Up!

Chretien has other problems right now. He's got to find, for example, a new official who can say "moron" in both English and French. This official must do it out of earshot of all reporters.

Besides, don't ya know? Canada's just the 51st state. Oh, yeah, do you guys know my friend Susie, she's from Canada? And what do you do with your igloos in the summer? And Canadians are so cruel, putting the old people on icefloes in the Arctic! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hey if that's the case we are suffering from representation without taxation! Just the opposite of DC'ers. The representation can't vote in the Senate or Congress but their staff shure dou make sum funy remarks aboot the prezedent, eh?

Hey we can't help it if the old folk wander off while we are too busy calling world leaders....

I might argue that YYZ/YOW/YVR/YYC are all transborder, but YUL is international. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Vive le Québec libre!

AC MLL allows UA * gold to their lounges for all flights. As long as you're on a Star Alliance flight, domestic or Int'l, you're in the lounge.

A refreshing change I noticed while flying in Canada this year..

Drink coupons are intended for international C and F passengers, but I believe some FTers in economy have occasionally been successful at getting a coupon or two.
