E-cert from Chase doesn't work

I received an E-cert from Chase after getting one of the new cards, but .bomb is saying they cannot validate the certificate number. Do I need to call reservations, MP, or Chase?

Call the web support number while booking the ticket

Oh boy... web support. I'll have to do this tomorrow night then. I have never had any quick fixes with them. Thank you for the help!

Are you sure it's an e-cert, not just a paper voucher? I believe the $25 voucher they offer is for paper redemption only, and not valid on the website. (You can redeem it via ticket-by-mail or by booking at the airport; there is no booking fee when doing this.)

Wirelessly posted (AT&T Tilt: HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0)

This is a $100 off certficate. It specifically says it is an electronic certficate that can be redeemed at united.com. I'm hoping someone didn't guess my number or something because that seems like it would be a hard problem to fix.

This has been an ongoing problem with all Chase certs for all airlines it has relationships with. CO has several threads on the subject. These things are so difficult to use that I've given up with my CO ones. Maybe that's the idea....

Plus, with UA, there was the problem last year (or the year before) that some figured out the sequentuality of the numbering of the $100.00 e-certs and was selling them on e-bay thus making all $100.00 invalid.

I had the same problem. I called web support and they confirmed it was an invalid number. I called the rewards people (number on the letter that accompanied the cert) and they said a supervisor would call me in 4-6 weeks. Still waiting.

I called the web-support line to verify that the number was invalid. They confirmed that it was invalid, and I called Chase customer support. They told me that I should get another certificate in 5-10 business days. If someone is guessing the e-cert numbers, hopefully they can put a stop to this. United should inbed some type of cypher secret into the e-cert numbers to prevent any type of fraud. I know quite a few of the numbers on this Chase e-cert matched an e-cert I got from United.

did you just call the number on the back of the card? I tried the number of the company that handles the certs... Sounds like you got better results

Same here .. tried using the cert but the number was invalid ... turned out I can't use it anyway on a base fare of under 150, but anyway ..

Once you get a valid cert you can usually get Web Support to apply a cert greater than base value -- but no residual value. They applied a $150 on a $148 base. This was an UA cert and may not work for a Chase cert but worth a try.
