Never had a problem getting access to the Senator side as a star gold - always very straightforward in my experience (don't even have to ask).

Senator Lounge is on your right side when you face the reception desk, right?

11AM today , was let in and welcomed warmly with United Express BP and 1K card. Also offered free t-mobile WiFi username and password for internet without asking. When facing podium at front door we were directed to our left. The right side was closed/ lights out unoccupied.

Food offerings were still breakfast oriented but they are changing them out as I type this.
Breakfast offerings:

Lunch: ready made sandwiches includes Ham and Cheese, Roast Beef and Cheese and Turkey and Cheese

The beer fridge: Sorry for blurry picture. The Bombay Sapphire bottle in the first link is now empty :-)

Left side (IIRC). (IAD Senator is right of desk/upper level)

Was pleasantly surprised this morning -

Am actually in here right now. They now open at 5am; was asked if I am flying UA or Continental (no LH flights anywhere to be seen on the monitors). *G card plus boarding pass checked and I was let right in.

I flew out of DTW Saturday, the check-in staff actually made sure I knew I could use the LH lounge ("just show your 1k card"). Unfortunately, I don't normally carry the 1k card, and the lounge staff politely denied access, saying they actually have to see that card or the RCC card with the gold star on it - either would work. Will carry it next time! She actually said "thanks for being nice about it, we've had some upset people -- but we have to see the card." So be sure you have your card with you.

This in general applies to all LH lounges anywhere in the world.

Correct, in conjunction with a same-day *A boarding pass.

I thought FTL is equivalent to *S? Does it still get access? (I am not making a statement, I am asking the question).

LH FTL cards are indeed marked as *S.

I once had a US agent claim that you had to be on non-Canada international, which is also clearly untrue.

Star Gold should have access to Senator. It is a *S/GM RCC member that would be directed to the Business side.

It's a published M&M benefit for FTL and an exception to the usual rule; FTL is indeed *S, but we're talking here about an LH FTL using an LH lounge. It still takes SEN or HON (*G) to get into other carrier *A lounges.

Oh, OK... never knew that LH gave the lower tier (NOT making judgements here) access to lounges.
