Thanks. Fixed!

BTW, a couple employees from SYD emailed to me that say that Annie chose a voluntary furlough...she was not forced out against her will.

I hope that's the case. In the oil industry "take the voluntary furlough, or else..." is very common. The voluntary separation includes some enhanced payment based on years of service, extended continuation of some benefits, etc, and maybe (for some) favorable post-separation treatment of options/grants. If one opts not to "voluntarily" leave, the benefits are not as good. One way or another, some are really leaving even though they would rather stay.

I strongly suspect this is the case. Why stop doing what you love so much? With Annie, it wasn't about money.

I never met Annie, but I have to say the entire UA team based in SYD was always extremely friendly and kind, much more so than their US counterparts. I've never seen so many GS agents on the ground at an outstation helping those who didn't have status. I was leaving SYD with a friend who had a broken arm a while back and a GS agent escorted us to the gate and made sure we were able to pre-board. Would be a shame if the entire station was made redundant.

Goodbye Annie. You were such a wonderful ambassador for United Airlines. Thanks for all of you help and friendship over the years. I shall miss your effervescent personality whenever I fly out of SYD.

September 2011.

I just noticed Sydney isn't even listed under United Club locations - I didn't know they closed it permanently.

Back on topic - wonder if we (UA and other FlyerTalkers) could organize to get Annie to MEL for Oz Fest 18 Melbourne, VIC, Australia. USA Memorial Day Weekend May 27 to May 29, 2022?

David

p.s. And to remind, we (FTers for OZ Fest 16) missed letting Annie know that we were getting together: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31184556-post540.html and that we really miss her:

Annie was set up in alcove of NZ lounge as the UA rep just past reception after closing of UC.

Feb 2008 it closed, when they were still RCC.

That was in the old NZ lounge. In the new lounge, NZ didn't want any other airline representatives, so Annie was at checkin and gates.

Last week, the SYD staff told me about Annie no longer working at SYD airport. They told me she's enjoying the time at home and not traveling to the airport every day. Well deserved.

January 2020, just before Covid started was last time I saw her in alcove. I guess there's a new lounge since? A lot of us haven't been Down Under during the interim for various (one?) reasons
