Using a Skycap (outside agent) or Bag Drop Shortcut in the lobby is essentially the same process. The goal here is expedited processing for the passenger, not high touch service. The requirement is that you use the App which has your information to produce the bag tag - the person behind the counter cannot scan your home printed boarding pass. Hence the QR code/NFC tap of the phone to communicate with the agent's terminal and the auto print of the bag tag. If you want more support she can use Additional Services desks which support checking in unaccompanied minors, customers with specific items that need to be manually checked in, and ticket purchases (in some cases).

I think what this is referring to is that TSA no longer accepts home-printed BPs.

IME that was a temporary glitch that lasted a few weeks/months? I had problems with them back then, but recently I've used print at home BPs multiple times (2025) and had no issues.

Re the OP, the self bag tag kiosks in the lobby can print paper BPs, which is what I do at ORD even when not checking bags. Although many here have grumbled about navigating the new kiosk interface to find the print BP option...

I think the next time I will have my mom go to the manned counter in the inside to check in luggage so she can avoid the app and the self service kiosk and then have the rep print out a boarding pass just in case. She has problem navigating the kiosk.

I will also convince her to take the wheel chair transport because she overestimated her mobility each time and need convincing to use the wheel chair option each time.

she had use the curbside because the luggage was a pain to lugged around and she wanted to drop off the luggage asap.

Would TSA accept passes in Apple or Google wallet?

Yes, mobile wallet passes are dynamic & functionally identical to those displayed in the originating app.
