UAL website language keeps changing to Chinese

Out of the blue today, I found that when I log in to united.com, the display language is Chinese with HK$. I double-checked the setting, and it is definitely set to US English.

When I manually reset the language at the upper right corner of the window, it works until I go to a new screen, then it reverts to Chinese. This is happening with both the Chrome and Edge browsers on a Windows PC. I never use Chinese, so I have no idea why this is happening.

I have had this happened to me on Marriott.

We are being taken over by our Chinese overlords!

Is your originating airport HKG for the itinerary? If not, then this is weird.

I had one of my Amazon Prime movies (from the U.K.) revert to Arabic subtitles. This is getting . . . concerning.

Does delete cookies in the browsers help?

Haven't had an itinerary with HKG for a few years.

I'm guessing some of the UA cookies / temp files have become corrupted -- did you try deleting them completely yet? I use chrome and find that the language settings frequently change -- I guess since I sync to my google account and multiple devices have different settings... Because of your thread I went and looked at the google settings and sure enough it thinks I understand Thai...

I had the same issue last night after booking a domestic flight in Chrome.

Were you talking about a conspiracy theory on FT or UA's IT ineptness. :)

Probably neither, since as reported this is a common consequence of cookie issues. I had this with netflix.

Clear out your site cookies and this will likely go ahead.
