Probably 10,000 pounds too much fuel. 10,000 pounds will power a 757 for about 75 minutes at cruise. Barely enough to a EWR-JFK flight, with reserves.

Checking the United app later to see if I made a good choice, took off 3+ hours late, then apparently diverted to Corpus Christi, TX ??? Which I don't get at all, as that would overfly Houston. Then 45 minutes later, took off and landed at IAH.

Glad I bailed on the flight, but if anyone has info on the diversion, I would be interested in knowing what happened.

June 22 ogg-den irrops

I have a friend of mine who was supposed to be on this flight going home and just found out that it is delayed 13 hours. Anyone know why? Not a lot of great options this late in the day.

UA1808 on 6/22 is delayed by 13 hours, with the flight status page citing airport construction.

I almost had UA re-book me through IAD when they cancelled my originally-booked LAX-ORD flight. Now I'm glad I took the 45-minute connection in ORD yesterday!

June 30
UA 4249 IAD-AVP, scheduled for a 5:40PM departure, was delayed 15 hours and 6 minutes. It was originally delayed an hour due to a tire maintenance issue. Then the delay creeped to 3 hours, then to 3:30 hours (which is when I stopped monitoring it). I checked this morning and saw that the flight was re-scheduled for 9:15 this morning.

All I can say is "Kudos" to UA for not outright cancelling it. Hopefully they were generous with the food and hotel vouchers.

passengers were begging them to cancel the flight.
They wanted to rebook or make other plans but UA refused to release the baggage that was already loaded onto the plane.
Its a creeping delay from hell, impacted by maintenance, severe weather keeping the ground crew inside, ground stops, timed out flight crews and unavailability of replacement flight crews.

UA54 EWR-CDG 764 cancelled due to aircraft maintenance, I think that's the 3rd UA 54 in a row. It has only run once in the last five days.

Filling the time until departure. Nothing major but SAV-EWR UA 1505.

"Your flight is departing late because your crew has not had sufficient rest time required by federal law. We value your time and we're sorry for the inconvenience."

I am sure once I get to the SAV airport, EWR will put remote ground holds on my plane due to winds in FCO.

UA 2316 LAS-EWR shows diverted to CLE and then the app shows it going on to EWR later but the regular web site just shows the diversion. Any idea why?

Was due to fly on the last CLE-IAD of the night but looking at inbound flight tracking the A/C was supposed to do IAD-RDU-IAD-CLE and the IAD-RDU was a gate return "to service a seat on the flight deck" with a rolling delay that eventually hit just shy of 6 hours, of course impacting everything downline, though with unrealistic ETDs posted.

The miracle (not sure if that should be mirUAcle or MiraCLE in the spirit of AA's AAngles) workers in the UC got me onto an earlier delayed CLE-IAD -- which had a duplicate seat issue in F -- and I got to Dulles just as N732YX was pushing back to finally operate IAD-RDU. Unsurprisingly the IAD-CLE-IAD turn, which had been delayed by 2 hours canceled "due to anticipated disruptions due to airspace and/or ground congestion".

My bag didn't make it but at least I have a spare set of business casual clothes at the apartment.

(Incidentally, 989 IAD-FRA was also a gate return. The app described it as "an urgent customer situation" while the airport flight status displays classified the delay as "airport security")
