UA definitely goes through phases in terms of how generous they are with compensation, maybe the recent FAA involvement will make them more generous? Good luck.
I didn't try to get into First as the Seat Map only showed 1 seat open and I was traveling with my wife. Initially they had us both in middle seats in different rows but at least they were able to get us 2 together in Economy when we checked in at ICN. If there were more than 1 seat available I would have tried.

BTW, UA offered us Electronic Travel Certificates for $650 each, so we just accepted them. The paid fare was $2341 each (1 way). I don't know if that's fair or not but it seemed ok. If they offered $200 I would have gone back and complained and tried for more.

Came here to see what happened after checking flight status on UA and FlightAware - no details there, just the diversion. Didn't see anything on AV Herald either, and IIRC Simon normally reports cracked windshields.

Looking since I am scheduled to be on that flight next month.

I saw this 788 at NCE today. Still parked there as of 2APR24 1500 local time. I was wondering why there was a UA 788 in NCE (instead of the usual 763).

UA110 diversion

Does anyone know why UA110 was diverted back to LHR? Like what technical issue?

April 3, 2024 UA110 (EWR-LHR ends up being flight to nowhere EWR to EWR) - 763 - N657UA

2 hours delay at the start. About an hour of pushback/taxiing before in the air. Mx, circles around, lands back at origin 2 more hours later. About 5 hours of adventure.

Surely at least one flight ex-LHR will be affected, possibly others downstream.

There have been weather issues in the Northeast US, lots of out of position aircraft.

Not LHR but diverted back to EWR (origin)

Covered in the delays/cancel thread. Here is the specific post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36134126-post204.html

UA does not list much info other than the plane is being taken out of commission. The aircraft actually flew for 2 hours circling around, likely dumping fuel and figuring out logistics. Someone can chime in on the exact reason from the flight to nowhere.

UA905 cancelled due to that.
The same aircraft was set to fly the DXB and CPT route on the same night ---- quite interesting as they would have to cancel 1 no matter what

The pilot said there was a problem with the rudder.

3 April UA110 (the 6pm EWR-LHR) was actually cancelled twice -- (1) at about 5:45pm the assigned 767 was cancelled for mechanical reasons, and passengers were told to await rebooking. The flight was reinstated and a new plane was assigned. The new plane had a 2 hour mechanical delay on the ground, then took off, then diverted back to EWR, where (2) it was cancelled after landing, at about 11pm.

Onboard the pilot told customers that there was a problem with the rudder, that they would circle for about an hour to dump enough fuel to land, and that the plan of record was to attempt takeoff again after landing and fixing the issue. Instead the flight was cancelled after it landed.

Passengers were rebooked onto UA146, the 11pm 767 which initially took a 30min mechanical delay that became a longer customer delay as many pax from UA110 were gradually reaccommodated onto UA146.

Not sure what exactly happened there. Went through every single Intl 772 on Flightaware and none seem to be sitting at EWR (There is a severe weather warning for the NYC area right now and as Repooc17 stated above there are many out of position A/C). But that plane (N76010) is headed to GRU now as UA 149.
