There was a new set of questions imposed by the US White House in 2017. Here's an article about it: https://www.chicagotribune.com/busin...027-story.html

I don't know if that was removed at any time?

Narita has transit security checks . . . .

I have never experienced checks at the gate at NRT, though to be fair others here transit there far more than I do.

I've bought post-security liquids at NRT and BKK several times without issue.

In more than three decades of NRT transit, I have never seen universal gate searches, nor confiscation of consumable liquids at the gate.

This isn't a UA specific issue.

However, I don't see any other FT thread, and I can't find any DHS reference list.

Here are the current known/reported airports disallowing liquids for US bound departures, collected from this thread:
AMM
EZE
JNB
LIM
MNL
SCL
SJD
TLV

Might consider making wiki post if desired by others.

I don't remember the last time I was asked the old security questions on packing the myself and having it my control the whole time. It's been a few years.

Madrid in May, 2023 for me. Prior to September's AMS departure, which was essentially the same as a domestic check-in, every one of my EU/UK departures that I can remember included the "Did you pack this yourself?" "Has anyone asked you to carry anything" "has this been in your possession the entire time since you packed it" question -- though that is typically only 1-2 flights per year from random airports so not really a meaningful sample size

SIN is essentially pre-security that they don’t allow liquids to be taken through security. It’s just that security screening happens at the gate whereafter they corral you into a pen with no services. So you can not take a bottle of water with you on the plane in SIN from what I have experienced. In TLV you can as they only seem to care about interviewing every pax.

Also, empty bottles are fine and there is a station to fill them post security.

They used to allow purchases made at Changi airport in sealed containers, but I have no idea if this exception is still the case.

Added wiki.

Re: questions, yes, I get that every time from anywhere with ICTS. Most recently last month for me.

Don't recall seeing it post-COVID.

I could be wrong but i thought security was at the Gate at SIN (2022), which would preclude beverages. (tbf i was on SQ SIN-EWR) but i thought all gates had security at the gate; distinctly remember because i was SSSS.

Yes (security at the gate) for SIN T1-3, and UA/SQ/NH uses those terminals.

SIN T4 uses common security when entering airside, like other airports, and doesn't have that problem(unless the destination country demand gate screening). But mainly CX/KE/other low-cost flies out of T4, not UA
