French Strike Sept 15 effects?

We are flying the red eye from EWR to CDG leaving at 2300 the 15th and arriving 1230 on the 16th in France at 1230 local time. Assuming the strike goes through - any idea if our flight will be cancelled/delayed?

per news article:
"The strike will take place from the beginning of the morning shift of Friday September 15 to the night shift of the same day potentially affecting flights on the days before and after. "

So not sure if that means the night shift from the 15th to the 16th is on strike? our flight won't enter French airspace until later morning on the 16th.

I know none of us can predict the future, just sorta of wondering if the flight will go through if at the time of take off there is not ATC at the destination, but plans to have someone there by the time we arrive?

Are you referring to the Air France flight that leaves at 11:55pm? It doesnt arrive until 1:15pm local time, so you may be okay, assuming the incoming flight to EWR on the 15th isnt canceled. You might want to post this in the Air France forum.

If youre referring to UA, their flight departures are 6:35pm and 9:40pm. Perhaps a greater chance of an issue. If CDG isnt your final destination, you may want to see if you can book a connection in another country (e.g., FRA, ZUR, VIE, etc).

Got it - as long as that aircraft isn't coming from CDG (and is cancelled) you may be okay. Certainly watch closely and be ready to rebook to an alternative. If CDG is your final destination, consider flying into BRU, then taking a train to Paris, for example.

so I am guessing it is coming in from CDG
leaves 5pm from CDG arriving at 7:45pm into IAD - at least that is the same aircraft type - but then the question is, how did it get to CDG if there was a shut down - maybe it got stock in the US and never made the flight over, like how far can you trace this jet back, etc.

Ironically we are flying home from BRU - so BRU is an option if united would change us or would we have to wait until an actual cancellation was made?

The inbound for flight 330 IAD-CDG was AMS today and GRU yesterday. There are plenty of 764 destinations that its not too likely to be inbound from CDG

gotcha - thanks again

General strike question - is it an "all or nothing" type of deal? like if they strike the entire countries airspace is shut down? or is it more of a "slow down" where only certain flights are cancelled/affected? On another board someone said that long haul flights are rarely affected.
