Systemwide Thales WIFI outage - starting 22 Aug 2023
Got this message from United -- I'm assuming they mean United WiFi internet connectivity but I've never heard of it referred to as "UAboard" -- is there some other connectivity thing I'm not aware of?
Especially confusing because there are two segments left to fly on the PNR referenced and it's not clear which segments it applies to -- and it also refers to WiFi not being available but that PDE is available, but the PDE is dependent on the WiFi (but not internet connectivity) being available.

Thales had a system outage on their internet service. Most of the 737 NGs, and a few other aircraft, have the Thales internet installed. That outage wouldn't affect the PDE streaming, only the internet service.

I'd get something similar with my credit card email notification too, "your upcoming travel is protected"...uh, which one?

Systemwide Thakes WIFI outage - starting 22 Aug 2023
On my flights today, there have been announcements of a global systemwide WIFI outage. No other details provided
Not sure if this is specific to United or everyone who uses their provider.
In all, it's not too different than a normal flight since WIFI is often not working or practically unusable.

I wonder how they process BoB transactions. The FA knew I was 1k as well. Maybe their phones cache the profiles of all the passengers before departure.
People just can't add their card after departure

Correct, to my understanding. Any transactions are likewise cached/buffered. My guess is a passenger with out a card on file before airplane mode would depend on the mood of the fa -- either nooe, sorry nothing for you or her a comp on us
