United proposes IAH Terminal B redevelopment
Saw this on the local news yesterday. United unveiled renderings and a proposal to completely redesign B to city planners this week. Not sure what regulatory approvals/hurdles remain but the plan seems pretty far along.

Most fascinating thing to me is that they want to add gates at B that can accommodate widebody jets.
Overall Im torn. The north side of B is antiquated and badly in need of an update, but I love how small and easy to get in and out of the terminal is compared to C/E. Also, I dread the future delays caused by yet another construction project at IAH. Will they ever be done?

Having to redo B south after a decade really emphasizes how much SMI/J and team screwed it up.
Construction won't be done until they build the east terminals (F&G) and run out of space. And then they'll find a way to do a remote concourse on the north side.

With that said, the project a decade ago cost $150 million no doubt the upcoming project will be many times more expensive.

Unfortunately, I live in the swamp that is Houston. Bush is a complete nightmare these days. For business travelers, its become a big headache. Removing the D/E garage has put the other garages at 99% capacity on a regular basis.
They really just need to focus on getting current projects done before crafting new ones.

So B North more or less becomes C North part 2. I guess thats fine as the only thing worse than the current B North is A North. B south works though; I did a lot of CRJ travel out of there the last 6 years. As long as Whataburger and 3rd Bar stay put I can live with some changes down there though.
