Anyone know why my 3MM 1K virtual card expires Jan 2025?

Just looked at my card in the app and it shows an expiry date of Jan 2025. I get my 1K card as being a 3MM.
Do other 3MM have the same?

Of course, no physical card makes it harder to know the situation.

In practise it doesn't matter unless the plan is to change the 3MM status earning in 2024!

It always shows an expiration date. Mine also shows 1/25 since I renewed 1K earlier this year

FWIW, as a lowly 1MM lifetime (for now) Gold, my card in my phone's apple wallet has shown an expiration of January, 2025 when it updated this past January

There is always a current expiration date on the current year's credentials. It'll update itself upon expiration.

They probably put a date on it so if and when UA decides to terminate that benefit they can ....

UA's practice in the past was not to update the card expiratiion for anyone until expiration.
UA has now started updating expiration upon requality for present status. So as an 1K 3MMer that was a done deal hence the 1/25.
If you have not requal'ed, it would show 1/24. Such in my case, as a present Plat but 1MM (2MM soon), and so far not yet requal for Plat, mine shows 1/24

I've been a 1MM for many years. Every year my card has shown an expiration the following year. It is normal. Nothing to worry about for lifetime status.

DL switched to using "Complimentary Annual" instead of "Lifetime" for MM status back in 2003. The language change was almost certainly done out of liability/lawsuit concerns, but a number of FTer's were certain it meant the end of DL MM program was imminent. Given that it's been 20 years now, I'm not all that worried about losing my DL MM status (not to mention the fact that the DL MM program is already among the least generous).

My 5MM card shows an expiration of Jan 2025 too. My United Club card shows an expiration of December 31, 2099, however.

No, by then they'll just rename the whole airline "ILuv2Fly" with a brand new tulip logo on the tail. Kinda has a ring to it, doesn't it?

Smile Maybe because you still have to fly 4 segments

Hi Markle, Congrats on reaching 3MM Status and 1K for life ! I have flown a lot since joining UA MP in 1987 and I can't even start to understand how much time you had to spend in UA planes to reach 3 MM status. I have 1MM Status and my MP Gold Card NOW shows a 1/25 Expiration. As I have already met the 4 UA Metal Segment Requirement during 2023, my Gold Status is good through 1/25. I am not certain, but if I recall correctly, before I completed the 4 UA Metal Segments this year, the expiration date on my digita MP Gold Cardl was 1/24. Once 2024 rolls around and if I complete 4 UA Metal segments, I believe my expiration date will roll to 1/26. This is the only explanation I could derive for an expiration date for a so called "lifetime benefit".

Same here, except mine is 4MM card.

That lifetime United Club benefit has turned out to be more valuable than I ever imagined until lifetime GS also gets United Club access for life.

Lifetime status does not require 4 UA segments annually, To obtain higher than your Lifetime status, yes you then will need the 4 UA segments. That for now will be 1/25 (not 1/26)

Lifetime status is only slight related to this dating of expiration.. As explained earlier, have requalified for present status, eith by 2023 flight activities or by lifetime status, your card will update.
