Will the 772HD be Polarized?

Went and looked at the schedule more closely, barring closing retrofit lines. There should be no more non-polaris widebodies after mideast June. End of July you should be good!

... except the domestic 777's, right? Gosh I wish they would Polarisize those too... At least get some level of consistency.

True, that excludes those. They shouldnt be around that much longer hopefully!

I'd still take one of those over any of the 737 / A3xx narrowbody fleet. Hopefully they hang out some more - widebody lift domestically is always a treat. (At least in J ... haven't done Y in a domestic 777 in a very long time.) Would be nice to have Polaris seats onboard but I guess there isn't an appetite for it.

Where the 777s are being used domestically won't go away. They will turn into INTL 777s or 787s. Domestic 777s are still definitely an upgrade over a 737!

defeats the business model of higher density but therefore cheaper lie flats tickrts for Hawaii or other domestic runs

Where has UA stated that?

I'm not sure a 777 HD is better than a narrow body.

If you are sitting in coach, 10 abreast is pretty tight to any narrow body 3-3 configuration. And while they have lie flat up front, it is the 2-4-2.

And then there are just the statistics of you clearing an upgrade when it has a much worse first to economy ratio. Or getting an E+ seat.

Not to mention the logistics of boarding it - IME it is a complete cluster trying to board or deplane 300+ people on those planes, usually with a single jet bridge.

In coach, I’d agree completely. Up front, I’d much rather sit in an IPTE seat than a domestic F seat. Especially on a long flight to Hawaii.

UA has stated the dremliner order will be used in replacing its aging 777/767 fleet. The domestic 777 fleet are among the oldest 777s. The 95/96 bintage 777 are the oldest 777s and are all domestic configured. I assume UA will do subfleets on this order for both leisure and premium heavy routes.

Cite the source.

Is that going to happen before or after the never happening A350 planes?

So at best this is still multiple years in the future. Nothing soon.
If it is not in the next year or two, I don't get excited.

We are essentially 7 years since Polaris was announced. 2 years will be here before you know it, but yes, they are not going anywhere tomorrow. I don't think saying a fleet type won't be around much longer infers they are going somewhere immediately though.

Cite the source Lol. It'll take you a whopping ten seconds to search and see numerous press releases that UA has firm orders on the 787. Considering deliveries will begin next year, it's happening before the A350 "order"

Read my post and your quoted post. No one is asking about the 787 order, but where United is saying it would replace 777/767.

Then it should be easy to post it here for clarity.

I'm not the smallest guy on the planet at all, trust me, but I've sat in 10-abreast coach on a 777 and.....crazy as it sounds, I managed. Believe me, with my girth and wingspan, this was a concern. I've also flown across the pond on a United 9-abreast 787, which, from what I understand, uses the same seats. Things actually worked out. Now that I've experienced both I'm no longer personally concerned about my personal comfort in the back on these birds. That being said, it might not be as fair to my seat neighbors :D so that I might be reasonably comfortable is no excuse as others next to me may not be at all.
