Flights to CPH, Return from CDG

Looking at open jaw flights from SFO > CPH, then CDG > SFO. There's a United / Swiss from SFO > ZRH > CPH, then return via United CDG > SFO. Any thoughts on flying United/Swiss internationally vs flying KLM/AF/or Lufthansa? And if a 1 hr 55 min layover in ZRH is doable?

Also curious about differences between PE and Business class product between the airlines. I was thinking about flying KLM/AF and transferring points to Flying Blue but looks like you can't book open jaw tickets online (and have to call) which is a bit frustrating.

Between airlines, I'd fly whoever is cheaper. None of the airports involved are great to connect at. There's also SAS with the SFO-CPH nonstop.

PE, where available longhaul, is all recliners; business class, on the longhauls, is all lie flats with minor differences in privacy/aisle access/claustrophobia. The shorthaul connections are all standard domestic Y, or Y with a blocked middle seat pretending to be domestic F.

1hr 55min at ZRH is a ton of time to connect. ZRH is very efficient, people managed much shorter connections there.

Zurich is one of the few airports where I will accept a connection time of less than 60 mins.

Just chiming in - ZRH is an excellent airport for connecting. With 1:55, you can buy some Sprungli and Laderach. We recently cleared a 40 minute connection to GVA at ZRH with no issues.

While LX does not have a great hard or soft product, overall it is a highly functional airline and generally quite pleasant to fly. We certainly missed both LX and ZRH during our recent BA/LHR fiascos.

Thanks everyone! Ended up going with UA / LX flights with a too long 6 hr layover in ZRH, and nonstop on the way back since we had points to cover it via mileage plan

You could head into Zurich, or kill time in the excellent LX lounge in E gates.

Is that enough time to head into Zurich and come back and go through security? I imagine we’d also need to store our bags (at the train station?)

Won't you be checking your bags through to CPH?

I understand the reasons why, but with a long connection, you might want to rethink that.

Yes 6h is enough time to go into the city. Last time I just lugged my carryon around for 3h around Zurich city center and met up with a friend. Granted, I've been to Zurich many times so I didn't do much sightseeing.

Nonstop to CPH and nonstop from CDG.

The thing about ZRH is that the airport itself is not very big. I mean it did take a tram about 5 minutes to get me out to the plane but there aren't a ton of flights. BUT it sits on top of a huge train station and shopping complex that took me a couple of visits to figure out. Shopping, restaurants and a place called The Circle. There ARE luggage lockers in the train station.

And here is the website for the airport itself. If you see daylight you are in the airport. If you are underground, it's the train station/shopping complex.

You CAN catch a train into the City Center but if you are just looking for a way to walk around and have a meal, seriously, the train station has it all (except for some nice architecture).

Here are the restaurants and shops in "The Circle" which you can walk to:

Also, the Swiss lounge IS very nice!

I'll be the odd one out and say I do not like connecting at ZRH... it's a maze, plus the trains. I've done it twice and didn't really like it either time. And this is coming from someone who has no problem with FRA.
