UA got burned quite badly during the high winds last week, so maybe they are being a bit more cautious than usual this week.

Yikes. I'm on one of the late SFO-EWR departures Wednesday night. I'm hoping the winds die down by late Wednesday afternoon.

SFO is landing on the 10s this morning with strong winds out of the east, which is exceedingly rare (maybe about the same frequency as departures on the 19s, which was happening last week with strong winds out of the south). They are also departing on the 10s, but that is much more common, relatively speaking.

Looks like a fun day at SFO...

From the FAA website
---
Current Airport Config
Arrival Runway 10L*
Departure Runway 10L & 10R
Arrival Rate 25

*I had the pleasure of a 10L arrival once and it was easily the best roller coaster ride I've had

Having gone 3 days without power and lost some fencing, and seen others lose cars and gain skylights (!) I sure hope this one isn't as bad as last week. Sitting in my home office right now, it's not even close, thankfully. No doubt that after that experience, UA is being cautious.

Arriving on 10L is awesome - wish I was flying in today!!

San Francisco Int'l (KSFO) is currently experiencing:
  • inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 1 hours 50 minutes due to wind
  • departure delays of 31 minutes to 45 minutes (and increasing) due to wind
And we're only up to 20 kts no gusts...

No joke today. Listening to LiveATC. Go around one after the other. Emirates A380 just did another one. Not a great day for joy flying.

United 2262 triple 7 just went around stating "Winds were outside of our limits". That makes 5 go-arounds in a row.

I got lucky today at SFO. My flight to SIN was delayed 20 min for departure but expect on time arrival.

Polaris food seems better than before. So is Polaris lounge food.

Free T-mobile Wi-Fi is great!

The major difference between today and the last big winds are that the 10s are usable for departures.

Looks like they just switched to 19L for arrivals. Departures still off the 10s.
