Way to automatically send UA.com itineraries/changes to a 3rd party?

This is probably an odd request (I've learned I am if nothing else, odd :D) but is there a way either within UA.com tools or a 3rd party app to automatically send a designated 3rd party itineraries both booking and if any changes are made (e.g. SDC?)

In my case my wife and I generally cross physical paths relatively infrequently between my schedule and her primary residence currently being in a different state (territory? district? what is DC!?!) than mine but she likes to have some idea of my general plan for my location on the planet/etc. and also the "if I hear about something on the news..." factor. I (usually, as long as I remember to) try to send her my itineraries as I book them on UA.com but I don't always remember to do this particularly in the heat of battle).

I was just thinking as I SDC'd a flight and got the updated itinerary email that it would be great if she could just get that itinerary automagically. Outlook/Exchange auto-forward rules seem to not like to forward to external addresses so the lowest of low hanging fruit doesn't seem to be an option (unless there's a setting in either Outlook or the Exchange Admin Console I've overlooked for years) -- and I don't think I've seen anything or UA but figured on the off chance it exists someone here probably knows how/where :)

You could set up a, say, gmail address you use for United that would forward all emails to both of your real email addresses.

Share a Google travel calendar?

I've done this on a number of occasions in the past, but only for individual itineraries, not automatic. When you book, you can enter a second email address and phone # to be notified of the trip, changes, etc. Has always worked for me, but don't remember if you can only do it at the time of booking, not subsequently.

Of course, united.com may have changed things now.....

Thanks for the ideas all!

That might be the way to do it, tbh I generally don't use my Gmail account for anything even moderately important (I check it maybe once ever couple weeks) but if I can figure out how to auto forward itineraries to both of us but other United.com correspondence just to my Exchange account that would work I think....

I have one calendar to rule my life and it lives in Exchange/Outlook...while it's an intriguing idea, I think having to update travel on a separate calendar would just shift the chance of me forgetting) from forwarding email to editing a calendar.

Hmmm...maybe. I need to read/look more carefully... I've definitely sent itineraries post-booking but AFAIK that's a one time snapshot of the itinerary as it exists at that moment and doesn't reflect subsequent updates. I haven't noticed a way at booking to add a 2nd email address but next time. I book a fresh res I'll have to look for that and see if it behaves as a snapshot or follows updates.

This will not be automatic in some sense. She can add all of your itineraries on her UA App immediately after you book a new trip. She can go to App to see your up-to-date itinerary (e.g., after you do SDC) during your ongoing trip.

It sounds like the OP is looking for something that reads the itinerary and then either sends an update to another party or updates the information elsewhere. UA does not email every change so a solution that uses email may not fully meet the requirements.

I do not know of any tool that does this automatically but you could write a program to do so. One way could be to use a low code free solution like Power Automate (part of Office 365) to periodically log-in to UA’s site and capture your itineraries then look for changes. It would probably require quite a bit of hand holding.

Next level could be something based off the code used by pnr.sh to leverage the app api to look for changes to pnrs. This would also be subject to the whims of UA’s developers and many changes they make to their api calls.

I use TripIt for free, I send all my itineraries to it and it organizes them for me and I can share each one with my spouse.

this was going to be my suggestion. Google allows you to set up rules-based forwarding too, so, say, only forward emails that include ‘eTicket and receipt’ in the subject line to [wife address], or only emails from ‘@united.com’. Just to be clear, before you can set this up, requires opt-in from the address you are forwarding to.

As for where UA itineraries go, IME, that can be a bit tricky with multiple emails. Sometimes, I send booked itineraries to my own address, and some to a joint address I share with my wife, if it’s a family trip. Problem is, UA seems to randomly ignore which address an individual itinerary is suppose to go to, and sometimes, with the link on the site if it’s already been purchased, goes to the address it shouldn’t. Honestly, I’ve given up trying to figure it out.
