axlrosen, welcome to posting on FlyerTalk!
It appears that this daytime flight IAD to LHR is just on temporary hiatus; but appears to be restarting on 25 Feb. 2023.

I found it by trial-and-error. If you start to do a booking on the United website for IAD to LHR flights, and put in 25 Feb 2023 (or later) as your departure date, you'll see that the daytime flight shows as a choice.

This is probably the easiest consumer facing option, but there are many other ways to get to the same info without having to touch UA's web site at all.

And better yet, the morning IAD-LHR is switching to a High J 767 when it returns. One of the bigger operational downgrades as a result of the merger was the switch from a IPTE 767 to a BusinessFirst 757. Say what you want to say about IPTE, it was still a widebody with 2-2-2 in J instead of 2-4-2 on the 777 and the 2-3-2 in the rear, even with the joke that was the IFE back there. Of course not forgetting the six seats upfront in F with 1-1-1. Granted the flight probably was losing money in that configuration but now with Polaris and Premium Plus, a definite improvement in yields.

Agreed. Another option might be to just drive up the night before to EWR (three and a half hour drive) and overnight near the airport before taking the daytime EWR-LHR flight.

Even better option, taking the NE Regional to EWR, connecting to AirTrain, and spending the night at the Marriott on the airport's property. Alternatively take either the NE Regional or Acela to NWK and get in a short uber/lyft/cab ride to the hotel near the airport that has a complimentary shuttle. (Probably what I would do as that Marriott does charge a bit higher than what I am willing to pay and as long as your hotel has a complimentary shuttle, no need to stay there unless you want to walk to the terminal.)

There are a number of hotels within walking distances to Newark station, including the DoubleTree across from the train station. They all have shuttles, but there is also a bus (#62) if you want to get to the airport like a local (I do it if I have extra time from NYC).

Yes, DoubleTree Newark and Courtyard Newark both have shuttle bus to the airport.
