I understand that for people who do mostly domestic travel this wasn't really an issue but got international travelers, many places have not really reopened until this summer (and some places still aren't)
Having said that, I'm fine with my pluspoints expiring.

The ranks need to be thinned and the outstanding PPs reduced. We’re in the “new normal”. There are too many MP members sitting at extended status levels they won’t see again without extensions or PQP promotions.

Crap. They're extending them again:
...I've got HUNDREDS of PPs. I have hundreds because I can't use them as it is. Extending will not help. I was really hoping for a purge here at the end of July and an even bigger purge next January--take some of these now ancient upgrades OUT of circulation. I doubt it, but I might feel a little better about it if I'm getting mine extended because I've already hit Plat and am weeks away from a 1K renewal...But guessing everyone with PPs got this same e-mail?

I'm very surprised by this, but a little thankful, my trips weren't shaping up for them to be able to be used as easily. I recognize some might be annoyed by how many are still in the system.

Just received email saying "Your PlusPoints have been extended";
points 7/31/22 and 1/31/23 have been extended six months
(i.e. new expiration dates are 1/31/23 and 7/31/21, respectively).

Your unused PlusPoints are being extended to Jan 2023 (or July 2022)

I appreciate the extension, even though I'll still be nowhere close to use up all my PP balance by 31JUL23. I kind of wish they bring back the skip the waitlist as well, that would give me more incentive to burn up my PP instead of not finding any PZ space and end up booking a moderately cheap J-fare instead.
