This us an archive thread, the active thread is General discussion of UA's inflight service (Domestic / International, all cabins)
previous thread: COVID Era UA inflight service changes

Thread is for general discussion of the state of UA in-flight service / catering, comparison to other carriers, past UA offerings and concerns with management decisions.

For a specific post about a recent in-flight food, use the appropriate Let's Eat .... thread.

The current Onboard Service descriptions by UA.com

Long-haul international premium cabin dining
North America, Caribbean and Latin America premium cabin dining
United Economy dining

Since the UA website is extremely vague, I'm looking for a few volunteers to submit data, and I will summarize to complete the wiki. kind regards, phkc070408

Wait a minute: I thought I read somewhere that this flight was too short to offer beverage service?

And that no alcoholic drinks can be served prior to 10AM. It's a policy...

Ok a few random questions:

1. It seems UA food offerings in Economy is based on mileage--not time (https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly...ing/first.html). Where on United.com can you tell how many miles your flight is??

2. Then for some reason the Domestic First Class food offerings is based on time length of the flight, not miles. No idea why its a different different measurement. It says flights over 2 hours and 20 mins receive a sandwhich and a snackbox. However last week from ORD-LAX in FC I received a choice of two hot meals: Some salty chicken with corn/rice plus fruit, chocolate muffin. I forget the other choice. Is this route a "special exception" or is UA website not up to date?

3. The food mentioned above was BAD. Like a crappy middle school cafeteria bad. Seems like they could at least elevate it to bottom of the barrel basic like an Applebees or Chilis with minimum costs lol!

So you mean this, right? Yeah, this is what I had MCO-DEN last weekend, and this is by far the smaller nugget of chicken I have ever seen on UA in 23+ years as a 1K.

You should see the chicken golf ball I got on EWR-DEL over in the let's eat Polaris 2022 thread LOL. But seriously this might be the worst looking of the 30+ chimichurri chicken pictures I've seen/eaten on this and the lets eat domestic forum.

Rarely. And if people knew what was in that food regardless of airline they壇 change their airplane eating habits as well.

Besides off the chart sodium and sugar - often it is not inspected, expired, and listeria and e-coli are not unheard off.

Or on. Both salt and sugar provide good flavor - especially at altitude.

And, given the propensity of some to eat in the UCs instead, maybe this is better for others in the COVID era:

I just flew YYZ-IAH. Although no PDB, the service was awesome. The SD walked through the first class cabin many times, refilled my wine and water glasses as needed. Since it was a 14:34 departure, no meal, but we did get a snack box. That痴 certainly not the SDs fault.
