Will United Match Delta's permanent inclusion of Award Miles in accrual?

I just saw that Delta will permanently count award miles flown as part of attaining status. Does anyone think United might do this. Miles are now a currency with value, so why not?

If anything, they need to reduce elites

For the average flyer Delta miles have less value proposition with endless devaluations. In general awards are so costly on delta that they can basically treat them as revenue tickets. It’s not necessarily a plus. I would rather get more value from miles (be able to book to Europe for less 120K in business one way) than get status miles for them.

Award segments counting for PQF would be fine. Still need to bring the $ which award tickets are $0

maybe UA should count them for status, if a true pay with miles option becomes available where each mile = .01. Then award tickets become de facto revenue tickets

UA really should have set up an upgrade discriminator between those who earned 1K last year vs those who were extended - again. If there's no more extensions, I'll be more than happy - I'm going to blow through the 1K $ requirements this year, even with out the PQP headstart or what ever it was called. 1K should be 18k (or 15K + segments) w/ no headstarts - that should prune it a bit.

United has this already with the Choices program for some Chase cardholders

Yes. However, you can only use miles earned via CC spending or bonuses, not all miles

Similar can be said for United's program. In fact, United has gone further on dynamic pricing than Delta especially on domestic routings.
