Yes, plan to have something for them, but I am guessing anyone who wants to complain will probably take it out on the flight attendants. I am flying with my daughter and 3 month old because the father was deployed unexpectedly when the baby was 3 weeks old.

That's incredibly awesome, considering how much you have to deal with already!

Don't know the specific number for the 739 -- but for the future as a rough ballpark there must be 1 FA for every 50 seats (occupied or not) -- rounding up. Most carriers are pretty close to the min for economy and around1 FA for 15 or so in First.

I think there are 5, or maybe 6, flight attendants total on a 739.
Paging fezzington, LarryJ, clubord, a few of the posters who might be equipped to answer definitively.

Not 149 but 150. The A320 has 150 seats. 151 seats would require an additional F/A. The next step up is the 737-800/-8 with 166 seats.

Thanks-- you're right, it is 150, not 149! To make matters worse for the majority of passengers, 1 FA on the 320 is assigned primarily to the forward cabin, leaving 2 FAs to handle the remaining passengers in the aft cabin. The FA up front does help with trash pickup at the end of the flight, though.

I've started doing something similar on many of my flights (I just feel bad for how they are treated by some passengers) and they always seem to like the gesture and are quite appreciative. Your flight will have 4 FAs as the 739 has between 167 and 179 seats.

In addition to a gift why not do something to make the baby comfortable. Babies can't tell us what is bothering them so we have to interpret what they are telling us. One of the biggest things that bothers them is ears equalizing during take off and landing. What worked for me was having a bottle at the ready and as the plane is going down the runway start to give it. The baby's mouth movements will help in equalizing and lead to a happy, and even sleeping baby. Don't let her fall asleep until after takeoff and don't give the bottle too early.
Happy travels.

If you're looking for ideas, Chocolate has always been successful with us. We usually get the Hershey's minis for our outbound flight and something local for the return. It's something easy to share and who can't sat that chocolate isn't a mood changer (for the good)? While it's always a hit, it's an extra hit on flights later in the evening and on Red Eyes
But regardless of what you get them, they will appreciate that you thought of them. Like you said, they hear a lot of complaining,

Thank you for being considerate. I was on a flight last week where a family with young kids plus an infant took up the entire row 1, and acted like they had the plane all to themselves.
