Summer International Business Award Bookings - Success?

Please merge this thread if needed.

Iíve been looking for about 6 months - with dozens of Expert Flyer alerts tabbed - for business Award availability for this Summer to a variety of destinations out of EWR (NCE, CDG, VCE, GVA). Basically places my family and I are excited to travel to - but kind of waiting on the award space to open up to dictate what our plans will be..

ButÖnothing has opened up yet. I checked $$ availability on a few flights thinking that maybe these routes are selling like hot cakes - but the business cabin was completely emptyÖ like, two seats were blocked off which were probably for crew members. Iím assuming they are hoping international travel will return big time this summer and are trying to capitalize - which makes obvious sense.

But still, anyone else have any success on other routes? Is this normal for United - is there any time (like with Lufthansa) when business seats start opening up?

UA award availability is all about finding the right flight, at the right time. The good ones are rare, but they still happen occasionally.
Just booked a business award on NZ (PVG-AKL) for only 65k (+$53)!

The airlines have been betting on a rush to Europe this summer (at least until Ukraine) and have been hoping for a strong cash business demand. What ends up happening is a bit of a toss up. Later Spring is looking good for awards, we may have to wait a few more month to see what happens for summer.

I have something like 150 different award availability Flight Alerts set on Expert Flyer for dozens of days from July through AugustÖso Iím not sure itís all about right flight/right time. It seems they just arenít releasing them per WineCountryUAís post?

Picking random dates during the summer and have no issue finding EWR-CDG Business award tickets.

Those are not saver business awards. 60K one-way is the saver award for Europe.

Same for Tokyo -- you just can't get into the country as a tourist currently. Will that change by summer? I'd say 50/50 chance -- Japanese government has been moving pretty quickly to open things up over the past couple of weeks.

TK has had pretty good availability -- some members of my family were able to book IST-LAX/SFO in J for this summer.
