Well, unfortunately contributing to this thread -- which used to be more popular and improved duting COVID - but now that travel is resuming so are UA crazy delays....

Flying to BAH via FRA today and of course UA960 is delayed because for 6 hours no one at UA could figure out how to get the plane from terminal B to C for boarding -- that's the explanation from the GA for flight after I arrived at gate to board and no plane.... Glad to see everything is getting back to normal at UA and glad I booked a long connection in FRA because, well, UA is UA... Can you imagine if UA had to live by EU rules?

Clearly there is something more wrong with a plane that arrived at 1pm and has been "cleaned" -- but can't find it's way across the tarmac to our gate -- wonder what they aren't telling us.... The old UA seems to be returning.....

ETA -- Called GS number they told me it's being towed to gate finally -- except it's not lol since I'm at the gate -- I guess things are back to normal for UA....

ETA2 - now on plane - no PDB - leaving two hours late I’m betting half the plane miss-connects - still have no idea for real reason we are delayed as they are still Loading baggage….

5/19: UA 23 (EWR-DUB) delayed by 6hrs and counting

Trying to help a friend who is on that flight, looks like many of the toilets were not functioning!

UA has been helpful with vouchers/snack boxes, but the ETA is a moving target (has been changing by 30 mins every 30 mins from what I hear)

Not seeing a lot of good alternate options, other than flights later on Friday.

Any suggestions?

UA23 appears to have been cancelled. It did not sound like your friend got on UA317 which took off 52 minutes late at 11:02PM ET and is in the air. As you saw, does not look to be good options other than taking the first evening flight tomorrow to Dublin and losing a day.

Just saw the update re: cancellation.

Will UA pay for hotel/taxi for a no status traveler (she's not from the area, was connecting in EWR)

Since it was a mechanical, it would be United's fault as opposed to weather. They should provide a near airport hotel that has a shuttle and meal vouchers. The small upside, she has a free day in NYC if she wants to go explore.

In the future, keep track of other flight options that you might hop on if your original flight has issues like this. Always helps to not have checked bags though.

Let us know what happens to your friend. Good luck to her.

UA offered a hotel + some $ for food.

She was also able to visit NYC.

Agreed, good to have info ready. But I didn't know flight details etc until I got a panicked text asking for help

It's also not clear why UA waited for everyone to board before realizing the toilets were not working!

I would bet that they were working on it and thought the issues could be resolved -- so they boarded with that assumption and it didn't work out...

My son and d-I-l were flying from CUN to CLE yesterday. Their outbound (UA 1051) was going to be an hour late (turned out to be closer to two hours late) due to crew timeout at EWR. So, they switched over to an ORD departure mid-afternoon (UA 1667). That had a minor mechanical delay which caused a 43 minutes late arrival at ORD. I was on the phone with the 1K line who said they should have enough time to make the connection and, indeed, they made it through immigration quickly. However, at the post-customs bag drop, they were told (paraphrasing) "Sorry, you're too late for us to accept your luggage and since this is the last flight of the day, we won't take your luggage until tomorrow. Therefore, we're taking you off of tonight's flight, despite having time to make it, and rebooking you for tomorrow afternoon." In the process, they lost their F seats and were both moved to E- middles. So much for the axiom that your bags have a better chance of making a connection than you do.

To add insult, their intended flight left late anyway because of ConnectionSaver.

Good Leads the Way

anyone know details about UA926 CNX on 27 May?

UA 926

Your flight is canceled because we needed to take the plane out of service to address a technical issue. Your safety is our priority and we're sorry for the inconvenience.

There is a UA3042 running today SFO-FRA at 2pm which is presumable the rescheduled flight (departs 5 minutes after UA58 which is the other daily SFO-FRA). Seat map is pretty much 100% full.

None of those are weather cancellations/delays.
