Are You Satisfied w/ UA's 2021 (+Jan 2022) PlusPoints upgrade program?
FT has long discussed the value of UA’s upgrade eco-system. If one reads the ‘GPUs are Useless’ thread, they’d think the upgrade program was a train-wreck. I personally think the program is fairly good. In the spirit of credibly measuring the FT community's satisfaction with the program, I’d propose the following poll questions,
I'm sure many were frustrated with limited domestic PP availability, but many others were pleased UA extended PPs, giving them a chance to use them once flying resumed. I'm curious to see how favorable/unfavorable results play out. Proposed questions:

If indeed we launch an updated poll here is my 2 cents.
No, I'm not satisfied and used at least 50% but less than 75% of my PlusPoints.
However, I did make 1K again and they extended my unused PPs. But I don't see improvement in clearing PPs in 2022. FWIW I place them on nearly all bookings at the time of booking.

If Kirby wants to be the best airline in the world, he needs flyers to feel good about their accrued benefits.

One family member and I were both Plat going into 2021; both of us used pluspoints on PE->J upgrades on transcons and one long-haul RT. We're both now 1K and looking forward to burning 560 points on these flights this year. For us, it's been a great redemption strategy.

It was a good year for me and my wife. We used 300+ PPs across our accounts. 80% were transcons, 20% were TATL. Every PP upgrade was into a true Polaris seat. The easiest upgrades were on transcon 77Es as there were always 5-15 empty Polaris seats at T-24.
We had tremendous flexibility on when to fly so that helped a lot. UA's no-change-fee policy also helped as we could easily change flights when UA moved around their 'upgrade-friendly' large aircraft.
I think the '22 upgrade sweet-spot will be TPAC starting in the 2nd half of the year. I feel TATL PP usage will be tough as there are a lot of PPs chasing relatively few seats in 2022.

I used almost all my points on other people, but was able to cash in just 40 to get J on SYD-IAH later this year ^

In October, I paid $247 to upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy and upgraded to Polaris for 30 PP on my FRA-SFO flight. Earlier this week, I used 20 PP last minute to upgrade from Economy to Polaris for my EWR-SFO flight. Pretty happy with PP so far.

I'm in the same situation and voted option 10, not satisfied, as basically those PP have no value unless they can be used. I only flew domestic in 2021 and was simply buying F for my wife and I as it guarantees no sitting directly next to anyone. I imagine once we're flying international again, those PP will be harder to use than in the past as there will be high demand but I guess we'll see.
