Flying UA 2002 from SFO to IAD on Feb 19th. Anyone fly this one recently and have an idea of what meals are available?

Hnl-sfo 1/15

Choice between the chicken katsu and the vegetable croquette with orzo. FA came around the cabin and jumped around cabin for 1K/GS before boarding asking for meal choices and drinks. Chicken katsu is still decent for my low expectation palette. Guava sponge cake is pretty tasty as well.

That cake looks like something I saw at King Soopers sold in the bakery for $1.99 on clearance.

Considering they likely budget $10ish per meal it better be good.

That seems like an overly high budget. No really, I thought it was $8.00 ish no?

I see rice under the katsu, what is in the side bowl? More rice with furikake?

ATL-SFO is not a premium transcon

That said, that route would get a hot meal here on UA, vs a cold sandwich.

Don't understand why Delta won't at least heat up their sandwiches

Is SFO IAD operating on its own menu? I thought all non PS meal eligible flights is Italian ragu or the chicken with chimichurri and Latin rice. And I guess now on select routes whatever extra options they have for pre order

It doesn't make United's sandwiches any better. I doubt it will improve Delta's.

Yep rice under the katsu.

Side bowl wasnt mentioned when they came to take orders and no written menu but it is a rice ball (onigiri inspired?) with rice, mayo dressing, furikake and some seasonings molded with a mellon ...... or ice cream scoop. Came with a little side container of scallions and fried shallots? (dont quite remember what was underneath the scallion container). Wasnt sure if the accoutrements were meant for the main dish or the side dish but I threw them in with the side dish and thought it was pretty good.

I just made out the sauce on the katsu. Was it curry?
