11/27 DEN-PHX (739) - water or sparkling. I “tested” the “can I get something else” by nicely asking for a red wine. Answer was “No, not until we’re in the air. We’re too busy right now”. 🙄

Thanksgiving Day EWR BUF EMB 170 - no PDB, but plenty of open bar in the air on the 48 minute flight. Refills offered.
11/27 BUF EWR A319 - no PDB, but again, plenty of open bar on 59 minute flight with refills offered. Incidentally one person orderded a prosecco, and FA opened a full size bottle. On descent, I commented on how that was the first i'd seen a full size bottle - FA mentioned that it was probably for the new PDB which they forgot to do. Sigh.

No PDB CMH-IAH-PHX and return over the holiday weekend. Flight was provisioned with one full size bottle of sparkling on IAH-PHX that quickly ran out. FA kindly got some of the splits from economy.

After my rough start on the cutover dates (0/3), I’ve been 3/3 on my flights this week, sparkling wine and water. On today’s flight, a full 772 ORD-SFO, not only did the FA put down a water automatically with the sparkling wine for every passenger, but she came back again with a second sparkling wine and said “Mr Greenpau, thank you for your business and placing your trust in us again. Welcome aboard and we’ll take great care of you tonight”.
Add this to a great meal and excellent inflight service, and I finally see what can be achieved!

So far I;ve been on two flights post PDB-return--EWR-PBI & PBI-EWR--and both offered water or sparkling on tray of cups. On PBI-EWR, I requested bloody mary instead, and the FA politely declined & said only water or sparkling, but assured me that they would take care of me as soon as we were airborne. This was true! The different FA who was making the drinks made eye-contact with me from the galley (I was in 1B) & gestured one-finger or two-fingers, for single or double. I held up two fingers! Obvs! She gave me the bloody mary mix on ice in blue cup & two unopened 50ml bottles of booze. When I asked for a refill, she asked if I wanted another double, which I of course assented to!

So on my flight back home, I had a chance to chat with the FA. He mentioned that PDB are back but it is difficult to do in narrow bodies (none was served on this flight). In my head, I was like narrow body aircrafts are NOT new and existed pre-covid when it was open choice.
