PDB back! On my flight at least.
Just received this email from ThePointsGuy:
During the early days of the pandemic, airlines cut perks travelers had come to love and enjoy, like pre-departure beverages. If you aren't familiar, some airlines offer their first- and business-class passengers their choice of drink before takeoff, which often is water, orange juice or sparkling wine. The first time I ever flew first class, which you can see in the photo above, I marveled at drinking Champagne on an airplane.
As I mentioned above, many airlines slashed the perk due to COVID-19. But, according to my colleague Zach Griff, United is bringing back pre-departure beverages for premium customers on domestic and international routes starting on Nov. 23. Travelers will get to pick from water or sparkling wine. United's also bringing back glassware and ceramic coffee mugs in premium cabins. Now that we understand that COVID-19 is an airborne virus, airlines are starting to bring back some of these premium perks and travelers will no doubt be happier.
Finally!

Just so you don't have to click:
- PDBs return on November 23rd - sparkling wine and water only (though I bet FAs will accommodate requests)
- Glassware returns on December 1st
- same glassware as before the pandemic, with highballs and wine glasses on domestic flights and rocks glasses plus wine glasses plus champagne flutes plus cordial glasses on longhaul flights

Honestly sparkling wine or water doesn't constitute PDB to me. But hopefully the FAs are going back to the old style of providing the beverage of customer's choice if politely asked for.
