Failed Redeposit, Upcoming changed reservation
Hi all,
Three weeks ago, I changed a flight booked with united miles to a flight that required fewer miles than the original booking, opting to redeposit the difference into my mileageplus account. The difference in miles has still not been deposited into my account. When I talk to mileageplus, they say that they cannot do anything about upcoming flights. When I talk to reservations, they say that the best they can do is redeposit the appropriate amount after the flight is complete (2 months from now). I would prefer to take care of this now rather than wait, as my faith in their ability to address the issue later on is quite low. Has anyone had success with a similar issue, where miles for an upcoming rebooked flight initially were not redeposited? I've been hopping back and forth between mileageplus and reservations, and it's driving me nuts. I'm not sure how to guide these folks to resolve the issue. |
That is strange. What normally happens is that the system cancels the original one and deducts the new one. How does this transaction look like in your MP account?

There's no record of the transaction with regard to mileageplus miles, which is the problem. I've been rebooked on the new flight, but there's been no change to reflect the fact that the new flight is fewer miles than the original one.
And, despite my language about redepositing the difference (this is how it's presented when you change a flight), you're right that the actual transaction that would take place would be a full redeposit for the cancelled flight and a rebooking to the new, cheaper flight, effectively resulting in the difference being redeposited. |
