No, the red-eye has been a 752 and the a.m. BOS-SFO returning for quite some time. Only now is it going to all 73M

Is 73M F considered somewhat comfortable for such a flight?

No, it's the same as any other (retrofitted) 737 or A3xx.

Personally I would take a nonstop in a recliner over an EWR connection any day, but obviously opinions differ. I just don't have the time to connect, and recliners are... fine?

When I get downgraded to 1K or less, I'll need to be more flexible. Carefully select the flights with flat bed to get upgraded.

Do we know when flat bed will return to BOS-SFO? It's such a tough upgrade for 737.
Did about 15 roundtrip SFO to BOS flights in 2021, noticed last few weeks/months the lie flats are randomly showing up (with last minute aircraft changes). Both redeye and then outbound as recently as last Wednesday on way to Singapore was as nice surprise. Most of 2021 until the fall were NOT lie flat and course upgrades impossible unless you went to IAD or EWR. That said, they also removed a few flights for return next week so now back to one morning / two redeyes back to BOS.

Having 28-32 seats in IPTE 777 is better than 16 seats on the ex-CO 757.
AirbusFan2B and truncated like this.

I disagree. Seats aside where opinions will differ, there are too many Y seats on the 77A compared to J. Always difficult and I mean getting anything below C or D ... forget upgrades

The 11:20am (UA477) departing BOS is on a 752 until February 10th. After that it is all MAX 9's. The red-eye from SFO (UA1925) is also a 752 through the 9th. I don't see the 752 on the schedule again until May 6th (when every flight becomes a 752) but I assume that will change. As a side note, I'm also seeing 738's on the schedule starting March 27th but only select flights.

What's the success rate for upgrades on 77A?

Maybe near zero for 1K and below?

I make time to connect when it's a matter of flat bed vs recliner!

Almost as bad as 8F 319s.

My experience as well. The lie- flats seem to be occurring a bit more frequently over the past 6 months but yes still random. Never got a CPU of course but did have as mentioned about 40% of instrument assisted upgrades clear.

Booked UA739 red-eye on Feb. 11 (10:35P - 7:09A +1). It will be 737 max 9. Seems like all lie-flat planes are gone on this route. Still marketed as "Business" instead of "First" though.

Is this still the case as of today (Jan 2022)? Is there pre-arrival snack served like EWR-SFO?
