@UA Insider can I get a definitive answer to this question please

I would rather have a gap of 667 to fill because I will be doing it with dollars and not distance.

Yes, although it'd be a lot easier to try to get the "D fare" than to try to get "the Z fare, but not the lowest Z fare, this other fare basis instead: Z123ADFN"

My understanding is that the non-UA flights get the PQP by the multiplier and the UA flights get PQP based on whatever that segment is valued on the ticket

The question is would those UA flight pqp count for the promo

I’d be shocked if the answer is no. It is PQP earned on United metal flights operated by United after all. That is what FTTF requires.

I guess I’ll assume that they count because the T+C as poorly written as it was from the beginning only says “UA/UX flights” but does not talk about ticket stock. If I come up short by that small amount, I’ll certainly be disputing it but I’d rather know for sure upfront.

I would call the 1K line and ask to be put through to 1K Mileageplus.and ask this question.
I would think it very strange if they did not honour PQPs earned on United planes for FTTF, even if bought through a partner.

We were planning on going away Thanksgiving, but that’s in doubt now (and prices went way up, way quickly), so may not happen. Am I right to think the only way to guarantee this if there’s not another trip is to either upfare one (or more) of the current itins (booked as 4 separate one ways) to add up to +197, or to do another trip as a mileage - or really points - run?

If those are the options, on the trips we have, biggest issue is she is booked together with our toddler (and I’m on a separate PNR), and so upfaring her either means we need to pay for this x 2, or deal with the consequences of a separate reservation with a. Toddler. Can anyone with experience share how much of a PITA this is - I assume there’s no way to ‘connect’ the lone child with either my reservation (on same flight) or hers, so that they don’t try to ding us for a UM fee. I assume OLCI also won’t be possible in this scenario?

Also, will agents on the phone be able to upfare to something more than lowest available? I see a Z fare on the flight we’re booked on for Friday that gets her to 8 PQP short of what she needs, and another Z fare on a different flight (same route) that would just surpass that (+$11). Assuming that next level Z fare is available on our scheduled flight, would an agent be able to book that slightly higher fare, since I wouldn’t be able to do that online since I can’t specify that deeply?

EDIT: argh, after looking at this in more detail on the website (vs. the app where I was before), realize even the slightly higher fare leaves her 10 PQP short of the goal. Z fare includes more taxes/fees compared to Y, and I didn’t factor in when I was ‘guesstimating’ PQP earnings based on cheaper fare. I guess back to the drawing board (or a good excuse to say honey, we are going somewhere at Thanksgiving!).
why not grab a round trip shuttle z-fare?

also ask for the C or D fare. I sometimes book those for 1k day of travel flex. Z and P can be limiting.

agree I used Corp book site (limiting) like Carlson wagon lit over the last few years and received. 400 PQP toward 1k

I will cross the 3,000 PQP threshold for 1K requalification on 11/11, so will be able to definitely report a few days thereafter whether this satisfies the FTTF promo requirements. So far, I think it's looking good.
agree, I Believe that I acquired all of the FTTF PQP required in order to requalify for 1K

my account doesn’t show re-qualified, but I have a mystery 280+ points added to my account

(can’t post pic yet)

agree I have this same experience as a 1K FTTF/BreakOut using Corp 400, 2500 with breakout bonus, and one flight at exceeding $100 PQP spend

if you’re so concerned why don’t you just take another flight on UA and call it a day! We are all guessing here and dispute or not you will be bummed if you lose out

I would think it very strange if they did not honour PQPs earned on United planes for FTTF, even if bought through a partner.
A buddy of mine called the 1K MP Desk About upgrading on the app. First agent said PQP won’t count for the promotion, a week later he called another and they said it would. He wrote a note to 1K voice to verify with no reply

Just to confirm… the receipt pqp calculation, is relatively accurate?

I upfared to business class but the second segment is on Lufthansa. But with the receipt calculation, I’m about 100 over the 3,000 pqp threshold for 1K with the overwater United metal flight.

Because I am not interested in spending money and taking more time that I don't need to. The T+Cs should be crystal clear, but from the beginning, they've been mush requiring repeated clarification. I don't think it's asking much for the UA social media staff to chime in with an official answer.

Just UA Insider here, because I know I can call the 1K line to Mileage Plus 4 times and get 3-4 different answers - but it's on my to-do list to try anyway.
