Any idea what would would happen if you have booked an itinerary that qualifies for 3000 PQP on UA and you are involuntarily rebooked to a carrier different from UA?

Contact 1k, they may need to manually post to you MP account. This has to be an involuntary bump.

May depend on how this happens,

if day of travel, then UA can do Original Routing Credit (ORC) After Involuntary Re-Routing/Re-Booking (Merged)

However, if done as an advance schedule change ORC is not generally done. Not sure what UA will do in this case

Perhaps old news but received an email with the subject line "You're getting a special bonus PQP deposit" on Aug 31 stating UA deposited 1,000 PQM as a "special bonus" - coded Surprise and Delight - because I couldn't take advantage of the 2nd promotion...again, doesn't help the current promo but a bit of a surprise.

I know that the T&Cs don't mention "Trips" but they also don't explicitly say that PQPs earned on itins whose outbound flight(s) occurred before August 6 will count for the FttF promo. I'm not sure it's safe to assume that they will.

How should I contact United in order to ask them some questions regarding this promo (which I asked above but the questions went unanswered)? Do I contact Customer Care through the website, or is there a direct email account? I’m trying to figure out some upcoming travel and need to know whether or not I’m actually going to get the BoB bonus PQP, which could end up getting me to 1K…

Thanks!

i've only taken two flights this year (one booked after august 6) so I guess this promo does help incentivize me to re-qualify. Never have I thought I'd be looking to do a PQP run and purposely find the most expensive flight to book for a one day trip just for this promo

Other than the standard customer support channels there is no special support team for promos. With a promo aimed at hundred's of thousands of elites (a million?), individual planning advice is not a real option. We will have to do our own planning / verification with the available T&Cs

And the advice from those standard customer support channels has so far been questionable.

After a deep read of T&Cs, then probably best to ask a few specific question of the items you are most unsure here versus asking the community to check an 8-point plan. And of course, the advice here is no guarantee but likely better than you are going to get thru UA channels.

your plan looks sound but individual items need to be cross-checked with the T&Cs -- such as the award trip needed to be booked after 6th August while the paid trip can be booked before the promo

Concerning the BoB, in your case, they will not be posted until after the promo ends in (late) December per the T&Cs. It Appears UA plans to do some post-promo batch processing for those that switch requalify on their own in the promo period

Thanks for your response, WineCountryUA! Helpful as always! A couple responses below...

Yeah, I wasn't planning to ask UA specifically about my plan, so much as ask them if they could verify that I will be switched over the BoB promo because I naturally requalified for Platinum during the FttF promo. And, about the 8 point plan, I broke it out into 6 bullets to aid in readability, but there are really only 3 questions/statements there...
  1. Because I naturally requalified for Platinum during the promotion, will I really be switched over to BoB? The thing that concerns me is that some people have already received their BoB bonus PQPs, but my profile does not show anything like that (even though I booked a paid flight which I completed the outbound on 8/14 and return on 8/28, and should count as BoB trip 1). I think (hope?) it's because of this 12/21/2021 date they mentioned...more on that below.
  2. I have not booked the award flight yet, but if I book one, it will count as trip 2. This isn't really so much a question, as just a statement.
  3. If I complete at least one UA/UX segment of an itinerary on Nov 30, that will count as BoB trip 3, right? I haven't booked the trip yet, but I'm trying to make plans. I won't have completed the whole itinerary by the 30th, but the Ts&Cs seem to read that I only need to complete at least one segment of the trip during the promotional period.

Concerning the BoB, in your case, they will not be posted until after the promo ends in (late) December per the T&Cs. It Appears UA plans to do some post-promo batch processing for those that switch requalify on their own in the promo period
It's this late December date that is the main problem...if I don't find out until then that one/more of the BoB trips don't count, or worst case in that they didn't even switch me over to BoB from FttF, then it will be too late in the year for me to do anything about it. That's why I'm trying to be proactive and plan ahead and verify where possible.

Seems little uncertainty in
Members who earn status in connection with the Fly to the Finish offer will also be eligible to earn PQP pursuant to the terms of the “Breakout Bonus” offer if, prior to the end of the Promotion Period, such member also satisfies the standard (i.e., non-promotional) requirements to qualify, for the 2022 program year, for the Premier status that such Member held on the Status Date. Any such PQP will be earned only pursuant to the terms of the “Breakout Bonus” offer, and will be deposited no later than December 21, 2021, as applicable.
and the December posting is what it is.

Seems to meet
A Trip does not need to be completed prior to the end of the Promotion Period to qualify, but a United or United Express flight segment must be completed within the Promotion Period for the Trip to be eligible.
See if anyone else here feels different

Same happened to us as rererouted on Delta during recent hurricane ida. Called MPSC and they did original routing credit and now over the 3000 PQPs required.

With cases still rising in the US, it will be very difficult for me as a foreigner to make that 3000 PQP in the next 76 days. It also feels wrong to me to be doing status runs in the middle of a global pandemic (IMHO).
I'm considering asking if I can just somehow buy those 3000 PQP with US$3K and keep that as a credit to be used later. Any thoughts on the chance of that being successful?

Also, I note that the deadline for this bonus is Nov 30. Could it be that they're planning something else in December to get more people over the line?

It could be, but my guess is that they're trying to promote travel that otherwise would not occur by not rewarding end-of-year-hliday travel. With that in mind, it is curious that the US Thanksgiving holiday is within the bonus period. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

To confirm: revenue flights any date of ticketing is fine. However, on award flights tickets must be issued after August 6. Ouch I have a ticket in early October that’s an award that was issued in early June. I wonder if I could finagle getting it re-issued. I just checked on the app and I could credit for a future flight or pay $50 for a refund. Don’t know maybe I can get a one time exception. Any thoughts?

To add: are OWs eligible? Or just RTs??
