IAH-OIL-TRASH

Number 1 w/ PPs on waitlist for IAH-SFO today with PZ1. Agent said the system would run when it does. I explained to her PPs were applied weeks ago and anyone could grab last seat at last second via various locations nstruments. She put me on hold, coming back with (paraphrasing) “We’re making an exception and have secured you the upgrade”.

Were you unable to cancel and resubmit the request yourself (e.g., due to other segment cleared)? Or just preferred to try for agent assistance?

Little under 50% success rate using my PPs over the past few months. ALL upgrades have occurred while sitting on board the flight after boarding??!! The last PP upgrade was on a SFO-KOA flight where I was #1 on the upgrade list and 15/20 sold at check in. At baggage check still #1 and still 15/20 in F. TA said she could not confirm upgrade 1 hour prior to flight?! GA said I still had not cleared?! So boarded, took my seat, and literally as we were about to push off they came back and gave me my F seat. I would add this scenario has happened on my last 3 upgrades that cleared. I guess they really hope someone is going to buy up literally until the doors close!

I am headed to Guam (IAD-SFO-HNL-GUM) in the morning. Since the table showed no CPUs for the HNL-GUM leg, I went ahead and put in for a PP upgrade on both SFO-HNL and HNL-GUM.
The SFO-HNL just cleared at T-24. It looks like the whole list ran since I have been watching it like a hawk and 21 names cleared with about 25 seats open (there's still 11 on the waitlist). Last week I got a CPU for a flight at about T-70 so was getting a bit nervous...
I dont know how the priority is set. I started about 8th on the list and wound up 12th but I figure I would have gotten the CPU, with or without the PPs already put against it. Fingers crossed that HNL-GUM clears (8 on the list with 15 available) or it might have been wasted PPs....

Partial snark, but true and I may be subject to FT banishment, but I still have over 500 PPs, and about to hit 1K again and get another large chunk. Since I primarily pay for F, I use them often like this for my non-status staff:

I get SOME value as this guy always checks a bag, saves my company $35 X 2 roundtrip. I did find SOME value earlier in the year for myself when I found PZ available on one of my 2-segment one-ways, saving me about $120 that one time. Now if I could get back to HKG/PVG/PEK, I might have some use again, as towards the end I was buying PremiumPlus and upgrading to J.
