Too early to say definitively. I bet they're prioritizing on finalizing equipment for the June schedules, when we might see some of the 772HDs and/or PW-powered 772ERs (with Polaris and PP) return to service.
If you do get a swap from a 752 to a 772HD, you could try calling in for a free change on the basis of a "change in seating configuration" or whatever the CoC defines under IRROPS.

I'd reasonably expect that to change, and more 772HDs to show up in place of the Polaris 772s, closer in to departure date. Hopefully they do that soon enough to prevent massive overbookings due to the smaller J/F cabin.

Can I have the 77Q back?
My SFO-ORD roundtrip about a month out just got changed to 28J IPTE 777 [from 50J] on both directions. Sort of looking forward to flying backwards again.
UA has already swapped a lot of flights into 772HD starting the last week of May. For example, I'm seeing huge numbers of overbookings in First Class on SFO-ORD widebodies in the last week of May - 20+ seats overbooked in first class with the upgrade list being 50+ deep. It's sad they are doing this so swiftly, no more PP/E+ seats anymore even if you don't get an upgrade.

I had an ORD-SFO round-trip get swapped to a 777 HD from an equipment roulette wheel of 787/77W/77E (it seemed the type changed every few days in my flights).
I was in Y+ and had grabbed the PE seats and was really looking forward to trying them out.
Nonetheless, seeing the equipment swap, I’ve rebooked myself on to a couple of 737 flights instead. I’ve done the 10-across seating on the 777 once, and decided that was enough for me. It’s the only seating config I actively book away from.

I agree -- 777s at 3-3-3 on DL and UA were my favorite; fairly wide seats and when traveling solo a center aisle seat often meant an empty middle or a couple who would climb out the other way. Then I flew Emirates SFO-DXB-BLR. The service was decent I guess, but the 10 across 777 made it a very crappy experience. The noticeably ultra-narrow seats (I'm not wide at all nor were the people I sat next to, but we were shoulder to shoulder anyway), tight aisles leading to more people bumping as they went by, and the misaligned seat brackets intruding on foot and bag space were awful. I booked elsewhere and advised coworkers to avoid for a few years, and hate that they normalized it and other airlines followed suit.

I am looking at 5/27 EWR-SFO and 6:30 AM, seat map is for 777 with 50J, however 23 seats are sold, and inventory shows J5, premium economy is not for sale neither.
So is this going to be 28J 100% or they are not sure what they are going to do yet?

DL still flies 2-3-2 (767) and 2-4-2 (330) on its widebodies (though it did go 3-3-3 on the 350). DL also offers on average slightly more pitch in those cabins than UA or AA.
It is for that reason IMO the preferred choice among US carriers for a couple looking to fly long-haul in economy.

77G tail N212UA VCV-LAX today 5/20.
77M tail N778UA VCV-ORD Saturday 5/21.
77N tail N796UA VCV-SFO Saturday and sked SFO-EWR on Sunday 5/22 as UA1128. Looks like the first PW 772 back in service.
