  • 2021 MileagePlus Premier Promotion terms and conditions
  • Status period:
    1. For members who currently hold 2020 Premier ® status and purchase the same or lower Premier status level in 2021, your 2021 Premier status level will be effective on the later of the following two dates: (i) February 1, 2021, or (ii) 5-7 business days after the purchase date, and will be in effect through January 31, 2022, unless a higher status is earned.
    2. If you do not have Premier status and you purchase 2021 Premier Silver status, or if you hold 2020 Premier status and you purchase a higher status level than your current Premier status, you will receive the higher 2021 Premier status level within 5-7 business days of the purchase date and your higher status level will be in effect through January 31, 2022, unless a higher status is earned.
  • Purchase terms and conditions:
    1. Offer is for select MileagePlus members and only the original recipient of this offer is eligible to participate.
    2. Premier status purchased with this offer is nonrefundable.

2021 Status Buy up (Now available)
The link for upping your current status for 2021 now redirects to a landing page for unlocking 2021 Premier Status. When I sign in though, I receive a message that the offer has expired. My thought is that I am ineligible (but I would expect a message indicating such) or they have activated the page but not yet implemented the upgrade options.

With the uncertain future of air travel and extension of previous year’s status, it would have to be an exceptional value for anyone to take part in upping their status level. Thoughts?

While it is still a few days early, the link is active and provided a message that “Unfortunately, the account number you entered is not eligible for this offer.” I obtained Platinum through FPQP and and reduced requirements.

My travel companion’s stats:
PQP: 6432
PQS: 13
2021 Status: Premier Gold
Upgrade to Premier Platinum: $449.

In past years you had to be somewhat close to the higher status level to be eligible. Such as above 85K PQMs to get a 1K offer in past years. But a similar criteria this time. We will have to have someone qualified to help determine the max gap allowed

I am not relieving an offer either -- as I did not meet the 2020 Plat level but my 2019 Plat status was extended thru 2021 (Jan 2022) as were others with 2019 status.

Here is what I received as a Platinum to buy up to 1K. Total PQP (excluding Chase PQP): 7,454
Total PQF: 54
2021 status earned: Premier Platinum

Upgrade to Premier 1K for $1,987

That has always been true with these second-chance offers. Cheaper to do the standard way. But for the procrastinators, there is a price. Not sure why this would not be expected.

Yeah - if you think about it, some would not try to meet the PQP thresholds if they knew they could, in effect, buy the remaining PQPs for less than what the remaining PQPs would be in ticket purchases.

Example; Flyer has 8500 PQPs and needs 500 for 1K. UA doesn't have much incentive to sell a status up for $400 (FF effectively gets 1K for $8900), but does at $600 (effectively 1K for 9100 PQPs - a $100 penalty for not making in the allocated time) .
