RIV and TCM both being USAF facilities, I'd suspect something related to refugees.

Refugee flights have been using Camber call signs, these were just regular UA call signs. My guess is that it is just normal troop movement.

While we don’t know specific frames yet, during today’s Cowen event United’s Andrew Nocella said this fall he released five 777-300ERs to cargo flights. It was an update to the last statement from July (I think) which said no more cargo-only operations.

Additionally, the PW 772s are still anticipated to be back next year. It was mentioned that they would be useful as cargo, they are also out of service at a good time based on a renewed lack of demand.

So, between 787 deliveries halted and some 773 being moved to cargo operations, there should be some aircraft changes being loaded in the coming weeks.

You can listen to the presentation at ir.United.com.

Two 789s (3950, 3960) are due out of XMN any day now, and we'll probably see two more 789s go in to replace them. It will take some time to build and staff the trips as UA isn't laying over crews in PVG; rather, they are turning from GUM. E.g., to-be-configured 789 flying GUM-XMN, picking up and flying out a freshly-reconfigured 789 XMN-GUM. We should see the next two candidates soon.

Once the exchange takes place, that will make 16 789 in service with the old configuration, 19 in the new/Polaris configuration, and 3 in mod. Just getting over the 50% milestone.

I am expecting to see fewer 77W on transcons and Hawaii.

I used the Camber call sign a decade ago when flying DC8s between Bahrain and Diego Garcia on military Air Mobility Command flights. None of our other AMC flights used different call signs. Never figured out why BAH-FJDG was different.

That was a quick turnaround, right around 40 days. If they keep that pace up it's not going to take long to finish the fleet.

Are all of the non XRs leaving the fleet? It always seemed strange they placed only four into service.

Indeed it still will... except it's N662UA. 672 has back been in service as 76L for some time.

Has there been any word on the 764s getting Polaris seats or are they going to keep the 2-1-2 configuration?

Keeping 2-1-2 for now, at least. I think I saw something about 764 Polaris mods maybe starting in the second half of next year, but who knows if it's still true.

In the most recent earnings call, it was revealed that 764 Polaris mods would start in the first half of 2022 and would run past the end of the summer.

That is a quick modification for the fleet if they do it in less than 9 months

Oh, that's genuinely good news. So, six years after Polaris was first launched, its rollout will be complete!
