United Club Conference Rooms? (No longer exist)

2 cub members one flying connecting at ORD, the other is not flying wants to book a conference room is this still allowed given rule changed must be flying United day you want to access club. Years back you could book a conference room if neither party was flying.

Showers are gone, too. As is access when flying a non-UA partner.

Just to clarify my understanding is lounge access is still available when flying a UA partner but not when flying an airline that is neither UA nor a UA partner, right? I may not have had enough caffeine this morning yet this morning but I initially read the last words as saying that flying an airline that is a partner but is not UA denies access.

Correct

And so not to go off topic in this thread, please continue the discussion in
Club member/one-time pass access changes Nov 1, 2019 (same day BP on UA or partner)
or if appropriate
Lifetime Member Edition: UC access changes Nov 1, 2019 (same day BP on UA or partner)

Last time I was there, the CLE UC conference room was still in existence - you just had to ask at the desk to use it.

usually removed during remodel, suggesting it has been a long time since the last CLE UC remodel.

It is still there; and is/was (haven't been in since March for obvious reasons) it was not advertised, not marked, but available on polite request. I've ridden out a few loud conference calls pre-departure or post-arrival in there.

The CLE UC did get refreshed about 2-3 years ago but it was not a major remodel, and in the case of the CLE UC the configuration of the space would make removing it awkward without a major reconfiguration (the door is reasonably present but the room itself is tucked behind other spaces like bar/bar prep, storage, etc.) -- if you were gutting the UC and starting from scratch (a la ORD) it would be easy to make it go away, but there wouldn't be a good way to just make the conference room go away.

That said to the OP's query, it is not available for reservation -- if no one else is using it when you as it's yours, but I wouldn't make plans for an (important) business meeting on that basis.
