In the United Club now. No outside food or drink permitted (we had to cram our beef rolls from 101 Noodle Express into an already packed duffle bag).
No food out for self service, and you have to reserve an outside table to consume any food and drink - which is available at the bar. The food selection is actually better than what was offered at EWR a few days earlier. Club was pretty empty. Had to wait less than 10 minutes for an outside table and they do kick you out after 20 minutes.

I'm talking a tiny bit out of school here but I don't even think the contract employees are the same so there could be issues with that. I seem to remember an employee at ORD telling me that UC/Polaris staff can't mix due to contract restrictions. I'm sure someone else here knows a more definitive answer there.

That buffet has a lot of snacks to devour in 20 minutes, but given the LA restrictions, the offerings are not overly terrible. I would be sort of torn between rushing outside to have the snacks vs asking to take a reasonable amount with me out of the club to have on my flight where I can have it without someone standing over me with a stopwatch, especially if I was seated in Y without onboard food.

That looks like the Metro rail extension rising in the background of your food/bar picture

Thanks for your feedback and enlightening pix, rittenhousesq!
So, one has like 20 mins outside to eat and wash down with a drink. Thereafter, one can still sit in the lounge but no drinks, with mask on I gather (?).
(OT) love both, the beef and chicken wraps from 101 as well!

101 Noodle beef rolls are a must every time I'm in the LA area and they make a good in flight meal. :-)

It’s nice that UA has extended my membership by a year now, but with no travel has anyone justified renewing? For clarification 6 months extension and another 6 months a few weeks ago.

I have been travelling almost weekly (work), and the UCs are just not worth much now.
They are only opening up one club at hubs, instead of allowing people to spread out. So it really is not comfortable staying there for any significant time. If I really want a drink, I will pop in, down it, and get back out. Too many people too close, all with masks off to eat and drink. Would rather find a deserted gate area to hang out in.
Food has been vending machine garbage mostly.
I have been thankful to see some of the regular staff, especially the bartenders. They have been hit really hard, so nice to say hi and tip up.

While the food options may be limited, the value of escaping crowded gate areas is, for me at least, in some ways more valuable than it was pre-COVID.
Now if only UA would open its new UC at PHX . . . .

I have - as one who does not travel on OPM (generally) and aims for the exact 1K PQP hurdle, the new 1000 PQP Chase spend benefit notched it for me (plus the $200 statement credit I got for UC closures). There's probably not too many in my situation, though. If one clears the minimum 1K spend hurdle comfortably on UA purchases alone, the ChasePQP benefit doesn't help.
